Hope Too Tall and Robert Newhouse are on it. Like your idea my friend.

Um, aren't you suppressing how Tui died? He was a drug addict.

Is there really a need to drag his memory through the mud? We all know what led to his death.

EMMITTnROY....interesting idea for a thread...I am sure it's gonna get a ton of action....

I'll toss in my hat.

Pearson at 64? Nah. He's had as many big moments as any Cowboy....and more than 99%.

He'd be way higher on my list.

But then again, this isn't my list, is it?

:D

Before and After: Drew began his career in New Jersey playing quarterback for South River High School. Who was the quarterback for South River before Drew? Joe Theismann. Drew went on to college and played wide reciever for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Who was the wide reciever that starred for Tulsa as soon as Drew graduated? Steve Largent.

Yeaaaa Drew. I'm from South River too!

no one is ripping him. everyone seems to be enjoying the list (I know I am), and voicing their opinions.

I'm 40 years old, so it is very likely that I would list guys like Drew Pearson higher if I had the initiative to take on such a project.

He's a top 10 guy for me.

Keep up the good work Emmittnroy. I can't wait for the next installment.

thank you guys for all the comments.. I was away from my computer yesterday so I wasnt able to post #63.. its coming later on today, along with comments on your feedback..

63. Patrick Crayton
190354.jpg

Why he makes my list: OK, OK, I know a lot of people are gonna think that I am being blasphemous by putting a 3rd year WR with only 34 career catches one spot ahead of a Cowboy legend. Remember, though, this is a list of my favorite Cowboys, so hear me out. You know how every year you pick an underdog to root for in training camp? (All you Richmond Flowers fans, please stand up.) Well, Crayton was my guy in 2004 and he showed me some promise that made me like him more. Then he was my guy in 2005 and he showed me even more promise last year. He is another underdog story (you see a running thread? Hey, what can I say? I'm a big Rocky Balboa fan too): small school guy, picked in the last round of the draft, made the transition from college QB to NFL WR. So just like Drew Pearson, he gets bonus points for beating the odds and for playing college ball in my home state. So here we are entering Crayton's third year, and "my guy" the last two training camps has transformed himself from a small school converted WR longshot into a very dependable 3rd reciever with a knack for making big third downs and the potential to become a solid #2 reciever. Oh, and he also happens to have the best hands of any reciever on the team. Not convinced he should make this list yet? How about the fact that he looks just like Tony Dorsett under his helmet? Still not convinced? Here's the big kicker: I have been to many, many Dallas Cowboys games over the past several years and more times than not, we tend to go to the games that Dallas loses. Well, my friend and I were in the end zone section, right in front of where Crayton burned Sean Taylor and the hated Commanders to give Dallas a win. And he gave me a memory I will have the rest of my life.

One teammate of Patrick Crayton's that WILL NOT be making this list: Only two players from Northwestern Oklahoma State University have ever made it to the NFL, and they both became Dallas Cowboys. The two lucky Rangers? Patrick Crayton and (drumroll, please...) Lynn Scott. While Crayton has become a fan favorite, Scott has become the Freddy Krueger of the Dallas Cowboys organization. Nobody likes him, he shows up in a fan's worst nightmares, and no matter how many times you think that you have killed him off and gotten rid of him, he always finds a way to come back and haunt you again.

--Mr. Crayton has definately since earned the star on the side of that helmet--

Great list thus far...I am a huge Jason Garrett fan also, now he had moxie! Who can forget the show he and Alvin Harper put on Thanksgiving Day. I enjoyed watching Drew Pearson play, but I never looked at him the same after his drunk driving accident....

Awsome thread...first...

Tuey as he was known...was a mad man, with some chip on his shoulder. Angry...all the time, and you have to wonder?

That was a during a period of time that I "saw" him, but did not "meet" him...

After a game at TxS...we waited 3 hours or so for the players to come out to board a byus, and that's when I shook hands with Too Tall and Hollywood...I don't remember which game, but during that period...I could take a road trip to see the Cowboys, because I knew, somehow, I would not be dissapointed...and for 12 or so games...I was dissapointed just once...the Giants, bastids!

The first players that came out were some I don't remember, but, they "smiled" to the crowd on each side of the rope that led to the bus...but they were not to friendly like shaking hards and stuff...

Too Tall and Hollywood came out and talked to some of us...

After 5 more minutes...everyone regonizes Tuey and a roar from the crowd goes up...! He's come walking thru those ropes cussing like a sailor at everone...he did not want nothing to do with anyone! Stright to the bus!

Tuey was the protypical NFL linemen....one of the best, if not the best! He kicked ***, then took names...

And, that is a part of Cowboys History...during the "hippie" era, and drugs were rampant then....and that is what happened to a GREAT player!

RIP...Tuey...here is too you...because I know where you are.

62. Dennis Thurman
Thurman.jpg

Why he makes my list: The first year I really started watching the Cowboys was 1981, and I was five years old. That year was Thurman's only year to make All-Pro, but what a year it was: 9 interceptions, including 3 in one game against the Eagles. Needless to say, I was young, but Thurman instantly became one of my favorite Cowboys that year. It's a sentimental thing, when I think of my first days of being a Dallas fan, Thurman is one of the very first players that pops up in my head. Dennis had a great Cowboys career, playing from 1978-85 and totaling 36 interceptions and 5 touchdowns.

Why he could star in a Pirates of the Caribbean or X-Men movie: Back in 1985, the Cowboys boasted a pretty lethal lineup in the secondary- Thurman, Everson Walls, Michael Downs, Ron Fellows, Dextor Clinkscale, Victor Scott, and Ricky Easmon. They averaged more than 2 interceptions per game. The group's nickname? Thurman's Thieves. Oh, and the X-Men reference? Thurman was also known as "Frog".

What do Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu, and Deion Sanders have in common? All of them have been coached by Dennis Thurman. He spent 1993-2000 coaching at his alma mater, USC, and he is currently the secondary coach for the Baltimore Ravens.

DThurman%20(1).jpg

Remember those 25th Anniversary patches? I loved those. Well, that was in 1985, the year that Thurman's Thieves were plundering opposing quarterbacks at a rate that would make Jack Sparrow gasp.

Dennis Thurman. He was good. Nice pick to be on your list. I have that card.

I enjoy reading the list, by the way. No matter the difference in order (everyone else is right about Pearson), it is fun to read all of the tidbits and see pictures, etc. Very creative. Keep it up. It helps in getting through the slow news days.
