I don't want to see Haley Joel Osment at number 1. No how. No way.bbgun said:Let's fast-forward to No. 1, shall we?

thanks man! glad ya liked it..cowboyeric8 said:Great write up on James. Very worthy
Im really happy to see all the James Washington love.. Glad you agree.. and yep, that statement should make any Cowboy fan a James Washington fan..Funxva said:This man was worthy definately. This statement made him god-like in my view. Epitome of a Cowboy.
Yeah, any time I've read an interview of his or some quote that he said, I always came away impressed.. You gotta love his fire, his personality.. and yeah, we have had some great safeties..Kangaroo said:He is a great interview they had him on a show last year or so and they asked him about Emmitt and the MVP in that superbowl he said it is my own fault I should never have given the ball back to Emmitt should have ran it in for a TD. Man what a safety collection we had back then in those SuperBowl runs just think on it.
Washington, Everret, Gant (shark dance), Woodson, Marion that is quite of bit of solid talent at safety
hey man, thats really cool.. but im jealous you got to wear that Super Bowl ring, ya lucky dog! glad ya saw him on my list.. and yeah, if ya ever get a little more computer savvy, id love to see that pic..sf49rh8r said:Mark was a college teammate of mine back in the day and one of my highlights was that of his wife Pono letting me put on his Super Bowl ring. Mark was genuinely a good guy and is missed by all of Hawaii. In fact the year that he made his the Pro Bowl he and Jesse Sapolu both hosted a dinner for all former alumni to attend. Mark brought along with him Mark Stepnoski and Daryl Johnston. Rest in Peace my Brother. May he forever be remembered for the greatness he did and not how he left us. Thanks for putting him on the list.
Got a great shot of myself and a classmate at our class reunion with one of the all time great Cowboys. Ed "Too Tall" Jones. I'd love to post it but my computer skills are that advanced. LOL!!

man, what a great, great compliment!! thanks for the kind words, and im so glad you are enjoying the list! I have been a slacker the last couple of days because of the 4th of July vacation, but ill be back on schedule now.. oh, and glad you feel the same way about Crayton!paladin78749 said:This thread is an oasis in the middle of the Texas summer
Cool, crisp and refreshing
I can't dispute a single ranking, it's your list of favs.
I remember a spags(?) article during Patrick Craytons rookie training camp recounting truly epic efforts during his college days and foreshadowing coming days. For some reason he's caught my eye ever since.
Thanks for the ongoing effort, I look forward to the rest.
HOW DID YOU KNOW?!?! Seriously, you hack into my computer, didnt you?bbgun said:Let's fast-forward to No. 1, shall we?
haha! come on, I mean, he DOES see dead people!! AND he kicks field goals!! (now, if he could only kick field goals as well as he sees dead people)DallasEast said:I don't want to see Haley Joel Osment at number 1. No how. No way.
yeah, I have to say that I smiled when you posted way earlier in my thread about James Washington cause I knew that you were gonna get really excited when you saw him on here..DallasDW00ds0n said:DUDE im SO happy you put James Washington in your list! next to Woodson hes my favorite player all time.
I'm not one for spoilers, but I can tell you that you don't have anything to worry about..RealCowboyfan said:SURE hope not.
thank you bud, I appreciate that..ZeroClub said:Very nice thread. Easy to take issue with the order in which these are presented, but your presentation (e.g., bio's) is really good....
James Washington would be on my list too - in spite of the tripod incident ....
EMMITTnROY said:57. Gil Brandt
Why he makes my list: Brandt was the Vice President of player personnel and the Cowboys' chief talent scout from 1960-1989. You realize what that means? He was responsible for drafting guys like Bob Lilly, Roger Staubach, Tony Dorsett, Rayfield Wright, Randy White, and on and on and on. Brandt, Tom Landry, and Tex Schramm turned the Dallas Cowboys into America's Team and brought us fans 5 Super Bowl appearances and 2 wins. Brandt was also an innovator and pioneer, being the first man to use computers as a way to analyze players for the NFL draft. He was also a trendsetter in the use of his grading system and the evaluation of potential players. Pro and college teams everywhere now use the systems and process that Brandt created. He also was the first to use the philosophy of taking the best available athlete, taking risks with track stars (Bob Hayes), basketball players (Cornell Green), and guys that had 4 year commitments to the Armed Services (Roger Staubach). A pioneer, trendsetter, risktaker, and just an overall nice guy.
Now, if Gil could only get God's address: Relating a story about Brandt's amazing people person skills, Texas coach Mack Browns said, “Everywhere I went, he knew the coaches, their wives and their children’s names. He sent anniversary and birthday cards on Cowboys stationery. He turned most into Cowboys fans.” (Yeah, yeah, I know.. God is already a Cowboy fan.. hole in the roof and all.. I still thought it would make for a funny subject line)
If Waldo had any football ability, Brandt would find him too: Another thing that Brandt was known for was his uncanny ability to find amazing talent from free agent rookies. Drew Pearson, Cliff Harris, and Everson Walls were just a few of the draft leftovers that Brandt scooped up.
Why Drew Rosenhaus and Gil Brandt wouldn't be golfing buddies: Former Cowboy safety Charlie Waters wrote a book called "Tales From the Dallas Cowboys". This is a direct quote from that book, "The Cowboy players had a saying: Gil Brandt knew we loved the game so much that we would play for nothing ... so that's what he paid us, nothing."
This is the picture of Brandt from his new job, working as the "senior analyst" at NFL.com.. His colleague Pat Kirwan just made a list of the Top 12 game changers in the history of the NFL.. He ranks Gil Brandt #6.
cool man, glad you like.. Brandt, I think, is underappreciated (or more likely, underknown) by most Cowboys fans I believe.. he had so much to do with our success, and most Cowboys fans don't even know who he is..RealCowboyfan said:GOOD ONE. I LIKE HIM 2:starspin
EMMITTnROY said:63. Patrick Crayton
Why he makes my list: OK, OK, I know a lot of people are gonna think that I am being blasphemous by putting a 3rd year WR with only 34 career catches one spot ahead of a Cowboy legend. Remember, though, this is a list of my favorite Cowboys, so hear me out. You know how every year you pick an underdog to root for in training camp? (All you Richmond Flowers fans, please stand up.) Well, Crayton was my guy in 2004 and he showed me some promise that made me like him more. Then he was my guy in 2005 and he showed me even more promise last year. He is another underdog story (you see a running thread? Hey, what can I say? I'm a big Rocky Balboa fan too): small school guy, picked in the last round of the draft, made the transition from college QB to NFL WR. So just like Drew Pearson, he gets bonus points for beating the odds and for playing college ball in my home state. So here we are entering Crayton's third year, and "my guy" the last two training camps has transformed himself from a small school converted WR longshot into a very dependable 3rd reciever with a knack for making big third downs and the potential to become a solid #2 reciever. Oh, and he also happens to have the best hands of any reciever on the team. Not convinced he should make this list yet? How about the fact that he looks just like Tony Dorsett under his helmet? Still not convinced? Here's the big kicker: I have been to many, many Dallas Cowboys games over the past several years and more times than not, we tend to go to the games that Dallas loses. Well, my friend and I were in the end zone section, right in front of where Crayton burned Sean Taylor and the hated Commanders to give Dallas a win. And he gave me a memory I will have the rest of my life.
One teammate of Patrick Crayton's that WILL NOT be making this list: Only two players from Northwestern Oklahoma State University have ever made it to the NFL, and they both became Dallas Cowboys. The two lucky Rangers? Patrick Crayton and (drumroll, please...) Lynn Scott. While Crayton has become a fan favorite, Scott has become the Freddy Krueger of the Dallas Cowboys organization. Nobody likes him, he shows up in a fan's worst nightmares, and no matter how many times you think that you have killed him off and gotten rid of him, he always finds a way to come back and haunt you again.
--Mr. Crayton has definately since earned the star on the side of that helmet--
I can't imagine a Cowboys fan not knowing who Gil Brandt is.EMMITTnROY said:cool man, glad you like.. Brandt, I think, is underappreciated (or more likely, underknown) by most Cowboys fans I believe.. he had so much to do with our success, and most Cowboys fans don't even know who he is..
#56 coming later today..
first off, thanks for the compliments.. I really do appreciate it.. But as far as Aikman goes, I definately remember his prime.. Most of my favorite players are from that time period.. I may have been only in my teens, but trust me, I've been watching the Boys since I was five years old and I have followed them like crazy ever since.. I'm assuming that you have read my Aikman comments in another thread? Anyway, he will make this list, but it will probably just be lower than most would expect him to be.. and I will explain in full detail then why he isn't one of my very favorites (I can't give too much away!)rcaldw said:I understand the thread now. EmmitnRoy's 66 favorite Cowboys. Had to be with Jason Garrett and Patrick Crayton in the top 66. That's ok, good idea for a thread, and nice job adding the pictures and such. I now understand why you remember the end of Aikman's career more than his prime, you were only 15 or 16 years old. Again, creative post, nice job.
you'd be surprised man.. I think sometimes we forget, because most of the people that post on these kinds of forums are RABID fans, that your normal everyday Cowboys fan doesn't know everything that we do.. and it's not a cutdown to them.. a lot of fans are younger, so that is a reason.. but even moreso, most people who are fans aren't fans like us.. there are different levels.. honestly, we are kinda freaks.. guys who spend hours a day, everyday, in the middle of July lurking on the internet to find out any info about our beloved Boys or to even talk to another Boys fan about which undrafted rookie free agent wide reciever should make the roster as our fifth wideout? we are freaks dude.2233boys said:I can't imagine a Cowboys fan not knowing who Gil Brandt is.

I don't doubt you remember, but I do doubt you could fully appreciate it. And in terms of you not liking him, I've already read why in other threads. Of course I disagree with you , but hey, it's your favorite players not mine. In which case, he would be #1, with Roger or Tony D #2.
Have fun and keep up the good work.
well, as Ron Burgundy said, "Agree to disagree."rcaldw said:I don't doubt you remember, but I do doubt you could fully appreciate it.
