Enough with Stanback already

It's ironic that the poster of this thread seems to think he/she knows it all, but apparently is unaware that Stanback has been praised several times in Wade's PC's and just went through post-season shoulder surgery, which could maybe explain why he hasn't played yet... that, and the fact he is learning a new position maybe... he didn't even know how to line up a the start of training camp. Maybe he won't contribute this year, next, or ever, but I'll trust the coaches opinion over the person that started this thread.

No, he doesn't, but he's not a #1 receiver. He's a good #2.

I'm assuming that we're talking about trading picks and/or players (or signing big-name FA's) for a true #1 in all of these threads, correct? Trading for a #2 would suck.

Berrian is scheduled to be a FA

I know.

That doesn't change the purpose of taking a WR that's currently playing in the NFL, whether it be via FA or trade. We need to get someone we think can be a future #1. We certainly don't need to overspend on a quality #2. Fitzgerald and Williams are the only ones that seem worth it IMO.

I'd prefer going the less expensive road by signing a good WR like Coles, it's obvious the Jets are B.S.ing around with him, why not send a 2nd or 3rd rounder to them in a trade...

I watched Stanback play in Seattle for the UW his whole career and he was a decent QB with a lot of athletic ability. He played a little WR but was nothing special. Many posters are speaking of Stanback as a long term answer at WR and maybe he will be good someday but he is green, green, green and has done zero on the professional level. He hasn't even shown anything in practices or exhibition games and many of you keep talking about him as the answer?

Dallas has to get a young stud at WR because of the aging WR corp and Crayton certainly looks like a mediocre #2 and a decent #3 at best.

My hope is Berrian in Free agency or Roy Williams in a trade. A rookie may contribute this year (Bowe would have been great) but WR's usually take a couple of years to blossom.
I'm with you...

If Dallas wants a quality WR/QB/Athlete, UTEP's Lorne Sam. I'm not just hyping him b/c I'm a UTEP alum, the guy really is a solid talent. He was a QB coming out of HS. He went to FSU where he was used mostly as a WR. He transfered to UTEP where he split time with Jordan Palmer last year. Last season and this season, he just about did it all getting plenty of play at WR, returned kicks and played a lot more QB than the previous year. He's got a decent arm (not great) but he's fast, runs the option was a great change of pace guy under center. A solid all-around athlete

He should be there later rounds (if not in FA).

Last season was his rookie year and no doubt coming off an injury was a set back for him. Dallas will bring 80 players to camp I fully expect Stanback to be one of those players. In the meantime I would not be opposed to getting another WR via FA or the draft but it is way too early to know what Stanback will do at this level.

I agree that Stanback is so green. Hopefully, he "may" eventually contribute, but IMO, he's going to be another project, and "if" he does contribute for us at some point, I don't think it will be for a while at least.

You could be right and if that is the case I would hope he will start making an impact on special teams next season.
