I'm just getting it in writing now to point back to. This kid is going to be a big time player soon in the NFL.

If we can grab him late in the draft to play with/behind Witten for a year I will be ecstatic. I think he is going to go before most projections show though as he has the ceiling to be the complete package at the position and doesn't need to add strength to already contribute as a blocker.

I am intrigued but I think they like Shaheen more since he is getting one of the 30 visits.

There seems to be a lot of chatter about Shaheen at The Star. Could be a "surprise" pick at 60.

I wouldnt be surprised at all. I am imagining him out weighing LBs by 40 and 50 pounds and headed straight at em. If he can run block at all, he could be the guy because he can definitely catch and run routes.

I received further confirmation Eric Saubert, who measured 6047/249 pounds, timed between 4.65s to 4.69s in the forty. There is a slight correction on his vertical jump as it was 35.5 inches, not the 34.5 inches we previously posted.

He ran the three cone and short shuttle but I’m told there were problems with the turf as all the players slipped and were asked to rerun the shuttle/cone runs multiple times. As a result times are all over the place.

During drills Saubert looked terrific.

He caught every ball thrown and trapped just one pass, though it was a low ball drill. Scouts on hand were impressed with his blocking as Saubert showed much better leg and hip drive.

The Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals had tight end coaches on hand.

ERIC SAUBERT
TE - DRAKE PIONEER

GRADE
5.37

OVERVIEW

The Chicago Tribune named Saubert a top-five player in the Mid-Suburban League, but FBS teams apparently didn't see the potential. Drake's coaches did, however, and they were handsomely repaid for their foresight. Saubert started nine games and was a first-team All-Pioneer Football League pick as a redshirt freshman (47-549, two TDs). He missed three games due to injury in 2014, but still earned honorable mention all-conference notice (seven starts, 32-348, two TDs). Over the past two years, the Bulldogs' top receiver was a first-team all-conference pick and an All-American, winning third-team honors from the Associated Press as a junior (55-580, seven TDs) and second-team accolades in 2016 (56-776, 10 TDs).

ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS
Good combination of size and speed. Gets into routes with good quickness from the slot. Adjusts route to defender and does a good job of setting up his pattern breaks. Good separation acceleration. Man amongst boys in red zone where he dominated lesser competition. Posted 17 touchdowns over last two seasons. Gets maximum extension out of long arms to attacks downfield throws at their highest points. Has ability to make acrobatic catches when he's focused. Used in wide receiver screens. Athletic runner after the catch. Lines up all over the field. Flashes ability to become a blocker in future.

WEAKNESSES
Routes could use better knee bend to fight off redirections by linebackers. Short routes need attention to detail. Slow getting hands catch-ready on short, possession throws. Tape is littered with drops for days. Open catches became drops and contested catches became drops. Hand-eye coordination simply isn't where it needs to be. Doesn't always play to his size. Allows smaller defenders to crowd him in space. Inconsistent finishing routes. Run blocking isn't important enough to him. Gives half-efforts on secure blocks and doesn't look for work when uncovered.

SOURCES TELL US
"He's body beautiful but he can't catch. I don't think it's correctable either. I just think he doesn't see the ball well and doesn't have good hand-eye. You are drafting an athlete and not a tight end if you take him." - AFC regional scout

"One of the worst prospects I've ever seen. Ya know what would be embarrassing? Starting a thread on some sports forum pining for the guy. LOL. But who would do that?" - CowboysZone scout

NFL COMPARISON
Jace Amaro

BOTTOM LINE
Tape study is absolutely maddening on Saubert as it roller coasters from eye-popping potential to lapses in concentration and effort as a blocker. Saubert's speed and athleticism will get him open and he should test well at the combine. Teams will have to balance the flashes with the drops and decide how early they want to pull the trigger on a tight end with starter's potential but a low floor.

I'm trying hard to not homer out. For the record, I spent some time at Drake, and have been watching this kids press clippings. So, maybe I am too invested in someone from a school I went to, but I really think he is going to be a star.

That's probably the Cowboys attitude too. Especially after Escobar.

This is a loaded class of TEs but not so much for a traditional inline blocker. These are move types littering the TE class this year. This is what makes Jake Butt so attractive to the Cowboys. Not that he's a great blocker now but he has the potential to be. Jason Witten wasn't much of a blocker coming out of Tennessee.

So has anyone asked him if the Beckham hairdo was intentional or just a tragic accident while getting a free cut and style at the local cosmetology school?

The Beckham hairdo with a Zoolander Blue Steel smarmy glare.

Imagine that face rolling into the interview room at the combine as your first look at the player with his helmet off.

I would be like, "Sorry, the auditions for the new Jersey Shore show are down the hall."

So now we know Eric Saubert posts here under a rather uncreative alias.

And now we know why your draft analysis is so off every time. Go go by how pretty the uniforms are.
