I have been expecting her to go out like this for a long time. Very sad but not a surprise in any way. You look at the number of child stars that end up like her and it is a further indictment of the Hollywood cesspool. The initial report is a heroin overdose.

Yeah, really sad in that you could see it happening yet no one could stop it.
Anissa Jones OD just after I turned 14, in 1976, and that bothered me a lot at the time... Heck one of my earliest child-hood prime-time TV experiences was watching "Family Affair".
The whole heroin OD for people in general... I just don't know what you can do.
really what is there to do once you get started? You have to want to quit and be strong enough to quit- that does not happen very often. All these so called programs that are bragged about- mean nothing if the person cannot do those two things. BOTH of them for the rest of their lives.
In the end it is up to the person and no one else.
Very true.
I've come to the conclusion that for whatever reason there is a group of folks that simply can not cope with the day to day challenges most face and simply look for some way to numb themselves or falsely modify their mood rather than take another other sort of action.
and what makes it worse is more and more find excuses for them to do so.
Wonder if she tried to get some help over it.
Good question.
I do not have anyone in my immediate family who's currently addicted but watching those "Intervention" shows it seems there's a common thread in that the person suffering with addiction goes to wanting help from time to time and the people around them encouraging them to get help from time to time– No one is willing to pay the price to get there. The person addicted doesn't have the strength/courage to actually get help and the folks around them do not draw any lines in the sand for getting help because either they're afraid of losing the addicted person or they simply do not have the strength themselves to help the addicted see it through.
Quite often the end result on "Intervention" is the addicted person goes to a clinic for help (usually for months) the family of the addicted also are asked to attend clinics or therapy for themselves and how they've suffered (and enabled).
