I just watched it. It is almost exactly like the one in the Denver game when he was rookie. He has to come back to meet the ball. It's taught in basketball in grade school. Unacceptable that he hasn't learned that skill yet. Maybe he's just not going to be very good. Ever.

I like his size but, I think that's it.

Was a wasted pick then and is a wasted pick now.

He doesn't block well and hasn't been active enough in the passing game.

Not his fault he was drafted by a team that changed its offense (Linehan) right after drafting him. Same goes for Rico Gathers. Pass catchers forced to block only because Witten is the only one allowed to run routes consistently. This is 100% on the team.

Escobar just never fit this offense. He'd be great in a pass-heavy attack that doesn't ask their tight ends to block that much.

We picked this guy over the honey badger. Just imagine what our offense would be like if he and Williams lived up to their potential. Ugh.

Never said it was his fault. Just stating like you did, he's not a fit here. He would be great in a pass heavy offense.

I think he's talented but he's just not a football player. Like the whole will never be even equal to the sum of his parts.

I hated the pick then. I hate it now.

Dez has screwed up in the past and it caused INTs. It happens.

You can lament draft picks for any team.

Jimmie Johnson cut 2 third round picks their rookie year. He had other misses but it didn't matter.

Escobar has done OK as as a receiving TE in real games (see home vs Giants 2014).

It looked like a delayed reaction to me. He saw the bracket and figured the ball wasn't coming to him. It was an ill advised throw into double coverage first and foremost.

We were never gonna take honey badger. And it was basically a board consensus that we didn't need to look at him because he had just gotten suspended from school for drugs multiple times. Let's not do revisionist history now.

Where did I say we were going to take him? He's who I wanted at the time and a guy I would obviously love to have on the team. Let's not put words in my mouth.

Hindsight is 20-20. Why would you complain about a player that NOBODY wanted us to draft at the time?

Jimmy Johnson has so many HOF picks and proven history of success with evaluating and developing talent so his misses are not as big. If you choose 1 elite player or 1.5 starter in first 2 picks and completely whiff with rest of the draft then that is deserving of the criticism and second guessing. Cowboys have drafted much better in the first round, but they still lack depth which has always been an issue under Jerry.
