Many of you were non-stop ripping on these guys for disappearing. Oddly enough, when a real functioning QB played this weekend, both had good games.

Both are good options in this offense and will continue to get lots of opportunities that Weeden was finally kicked to the curb and Cassel is back where he belongs, on the bench.

Both of those posers simply dumped off to RBs WAY too often or took dumb sacks. Not a lot of opportunities were there for receptions down the field when a QB can barely manage his way out of a wet paper bag.

They are what they are. Ancillary pieces who need a high functioning QB and number one receiver drawing majority coverage to be effective.

Welcome to the NFL.

We could have overcome the bad QB play if we'd been able to take the ball away during the losing stretch. The combination of bad QBs and -8 TO differential was a complete backbreaker.

Everyone plays a notch better with Romo in the offense, Romo has this unique ability of finding favorable matchups. Even though I run 5.2 40 yd dash, Romo could probably get me open in the slot.

Whats bad is all of these things we saw without him in the lineup he is having to overcome all of that with his play.

Imagine Romo in an optimal situation.

Imagine dynamic playcalling that didn't rely solely on our QB's ability.

Imagine a playcaller that could figure out that we can do other things on first down besides running it that can get a few positive yards.

We handicap ourselves so much and if Romo never wins a Superbowl I know exactly where to place the blame. JG.

It's all about the passing efficiency differential. You can win by passing well, defending against the pass well, or any combination of the two.

Do both poorly, and you're probably going to lose.

Are you suggesting that it is, in fact, possible for good teams to win an occasional game when their starting QB goes down?

Osweiler and Hasselbeck are both quite a bit better than Weeden. In addition, Osweiler has been learning behind Peyton Manning and Hasselbeck has been a successful starter in the league. If Cassel had been on the team during the offseason, I believe we would have gotten at least 2 wins with Romo out.

Williams hung Weeden out to dry. I was a big Williams fan coming into the season but Cassell may not have even happened if Williams doesn't drop so many passes.

Escobar had what, two catches?

Wrong. Doesn't take a high functioning QB to get the ball to these guys. It just takes a competent QB to do so.

It comes down to what Romo said about decision-making. The great QBs are able to digest what the defense is doing between the time they get to the line and when the ball is snapped. Then in that few-second window between the snap and pass, they are able to progress through their reads and find the open receiver. Often they know where the ball is going before it is snapped; sometimes they have to adjust to what the defense does after the snap. It's really mind-boggling how much information they are able to process in a matter of a few seconds.

For quarterbacks like Weeden and, to an extent, Cassel, their minds are just boggled. They can't process the same amount of information or progress through their reads as quickly and it results in open receivers being missed or dump downs.

Elite QBs make receivers look better because they find them when they are open. Backups make receivers look worse because they don't find them when they are open.

Escobar was one of the people getting open downfield only to see the checkdown time and again. It is impossible to catch when you are never thrown to.
