I am an Escobar fan and endorsed the pick. However I am coming to the realization that he will never be a complete starting TE in the league. He will be a red zone/ gadget specialist. My reasoning is the guy just isnt physical enough. On the fumble he got folded up like an accordion and the ball ripped by a DB. He needs to be trucking guys who are 50 pounds lighter, not getting trucked. I think he is really nothing more than a king size sized receiver and hopeful mismatch in most cases.

I won't give up on him for that one play. He has shown some flashes in the first two games. I would love to see what kind of year he would have with both Romo and Dez on the field. Maybe we will see that yet.

Dude...seriously?

This seems to be the case but only time will tell.

I understand your point, he is not very physical, he has skinny lanky arms and just does not demonstrate fight and toughness.

Dropping passes and fumbles are a concern as well, he does flash in the passing game and has some ability as a receiving TE but if he puts the ball on the ground that negates his value.

He is a match up nightmare for db's but he needs to consistently win.

I'll have to see a replay but I thought he could've lowered his shoulder and left no doubt on that touchdown play.

Also disappointing fumble there in the 4th. Overall he's looking like the Bruce Carter of tight ends

Honest assessment and I appreciate it. I said in the preseason he's exactly what you just posted above and was shredded by about 10 guys on this board. Meh, I don't want to be right....he can still improve and contribute but HAS to pick it up. I think he has all that's needed physically...I really do. His problem is between his ears. Seems to lose focus at times. I was hoping some of JWittten's warrior DNA would rub off but.....not thus far.

Hopefully today was a wake up call. FWIW Witten was soft in the endzone when Ryans knocked the pass away. Jason should have been aggressive and gone after the ball to ensure the TD catch.

The timing on that play was just jacked up it seemed like. Ryans made a nice recovery and we were in the middle of carrying out the playaction when the ideal time to throw it actually occurred.

Forget the trucking a DB. He couldn't even escape from the DB's grasp to recover the fumble.

Talk about weak sauce.

It could have turned ugly for us on that fumble but we were saved. If he is going to dive for the endzone he has to learn to full extend him self in the air, not diving with his knees bend in air. I still believe he can help us out.

He's softer then one would expect for as big as he is. Curious to know if he can bench his own weight.

I still think he is going to put some numbers up with Dez out.

He'll get plenty of opportunities this season because the Cowboys have no choice they have to find ways to compensate for the loss of Dez. Escobar is a player they'll continue to look for in the redzone.

Hes a good receiver and thats how he should be used . J.Graham is just as or maybe even softer than Escobar. still a good TE
