As much as I scratch my head on Jerry and the cowboys, I can scratch it harder on the Steelers.

No clue why they wanted this 3 ring circus with Rodgers and not have a back up plan at QB.

In some aspects, although the Steelers have won a couple of super bowls between 2000 and 2010, prior to that, their glory years were in the 70's.

Although Tomlin's career is 183-107-2, he's 8-11 in the playoffs.

They seem to do just enough to stay relevant in the season, and will make the playoffs, but since 2017, they are 0-5 in the first round of the playoffs.

AR is definitely not in his prime, but if he has the arm strength and a decent OL around him, he can be a dangerous QB. I think the last two full seasons he played had more to do about the team than it did him. Similar to Brady in his last year with the Patriots.

This will be a win/win for the Steelers either way. Their young QB can watch for a season. Their other choice is Mason Rudolph.

Because at 40+ years old QBs generally can't fight to get out of pressure from a collapsed pocket, leading to more lost downs?

Because he isn't mobile in a League that is that is embracing Hybrid QBs and letting go of the long held preference of a pocket passer?

In a league where most guys fail and are terrible at the posotion, I don't see how a pocket passer that checks a lot of important boxes in the mental aspect of the game and still has an arm...how they can be cooked?

Maybe if you provide stats on how often QBs are hurried(Rodgers is good at quick release) or how often on long 3rd downs, where the QB has to hold on to ball for WRs to get downfield, that QBs deal with collapsed pockets....maybe I can get behind an old man an argument that old men crumble too fast and it significantly effects long 3rd down conversions(which happen regularly in every game).

Until I see a stat that illustrates an old man hurts 3rd and long conversions due to crumbling under pressure or having to fall to the ground to prevent injury from a heavy dlineman sacking him....I can't see the cooked angle at all.

He's 41 and will be 42 before the season is over
Over the last 3 years, his TDs are down, his interceptions are up, and his yards per attempt are down, and his sack rate is way up
He's had team/cohesion issues in his last two stops
