"They're lucky they got a guy like Rob," Buddy said Wednesday via telephone from his Kentucky home. "He's a helluva coach, and he'll do a great job for them. ... He'll bring a lot of enthusiasm. He'll get the best out of his players. He'll be up their *** and they'll get going."

I hope so, these guys need a good kick in the backside given their poor play this past season.

Now we need an *** kicker for the offense!

Specifically for the offensive line.

I hope that turns out to be Bruce Matthews.

I love it! Hate Buddy all you want (and I do), but this is the attitude this team has needed for a long time. I'm all piss and vinegar and fired up now. Where's the Rick Flair Whoooooooooo icon when you need it?

Buddy was a complete jerk here is guy who threw a punch at Gilbride when they were both in Houston on national TV. He and Ditka could not stand each other towards the end of their relationship in Chicago. As a HC he did not give 2 cents about offense only concern was his defense and Philly suffered for it. But the man knows how to put together a defensive team and his players loved him.

Exactly right.

First class jerk of a guy but he knew how to coach a defense.

NFL football is so different than any other sport, .. NFL football players are different than in other sports, and NFL defensive players are even more removed.

I hope Ryan gets our defense "all riled up" !

One of the all time great defensive coaches but a real jerk as a person. I still remember after the 85 Bears won the SB how the defensive players carried Buddy on their shoulders and that group he put together in Philly was downright scary if not for the fact he ignored the offense as he did Philly very well could have won a couple of titles.

Don't forget how he ruined Randall Cunningham's career as well!

woohoo, thats what this team needs a defensive minded coach that will kick some rear end, and put a swagger nasty attitude back in this team on defense, wooohooo

:starspin

Did I miss what he was signed for money wise/year wise?

I'm curious as to what RR thinks of the defensive talent on this team.

In 2009 we were ranked 2nd in defense (pts allowed), and this past season we were near the bottom.

Is it a question of coaching, or is it that the talent is over-rated and a year older?

Don't think that information has been divulged as of yet.

I agree. As I said I don't think Buddy gave 2 cents about offense he lived and breathed defense which is why he was an excellent Defensive coach but a lousy HC.

We pulled a GB packer move...we will never release that info and we will keep the rest of the NFL in limbo. You want him? Make him the HC bc you will never know what the length of his contract is..

He used to tell his offense

"Score us 10 points and we'll win the game"

That was the extent of his input on offense.

I remember him making those comments.
