but your comment brings up an issue as to coaches. Does Mathews having a son on a team in the NFC somewhat compromise his decision, possibly, towards remaining in the AFC just so that there is no conflict of interest?

Won't be an issue seeing as his son plays in the AFC... on his dad's former team
