Yeah he should be at FS but you better find some CB's. If you want a starting caliber CB he will have to come in the first 2 rounds unless you can sign a FA which is very expensive. This is why I get sick of the draft a QB talk and the we have to get another DE talk.

CB, SS, MLB are the three positions that absolutely have to be addressed. Two years in a row we have drafted 1st rd caliber DE's and our one and only major FA signing last year was a DE but still non stop DE talk. So many holes and so few picks in rounds that matter.

If the Cowboys intend to run more zone coverages taking a CB in 1st 2 rounds would not be a great ideal

With way the league is headed with more offense & multiple WR sets - I think the way to go is add as many combination players as possible. Meaning they can play S & CB. We need to get away from pigeonholing a player to specific position. For example if Dallas were to draft Ramsey you could make case that you have 4 DBs who could play CB & S. That type of flexibility allows Marinelli the ability to significantly reduce match-up problems. One game Ramsey could be FS, the next game he is in hybrid LB role and blitzing. You could basically do same with Jones. Point being just get me talented DBs to go with high DE draft picks from '14 & '15.

I just hope to see Jones put in a position to make his own. It is great being a jack of all trades but I would rather him become a master of 1.

It's possible Jones will take on a regular role in the defense like free safety, but also play some corner as needed, depending on our options at corner. The preference is to keep him at one spot, but depth issues force you to get the best players on the field in whatever capacity works.

I think it is great he can play more than 1 spot if needed but I also think there is learning involved with CB and safety. I would just like to see him get comfortable playing a single position. Ronnie Lott could play CB or safety but 49ers did not bounce him from spot to spot thought a season.

I mentioned (as did others here), that Wilcox was consistently the worst member of the secondary. He did indeed take a step back. The angles he took on some plays were simply horrendous. Church had 136 tackles according to the article...and that was despite playing with a high ankle sprain among other things. That said, even when healthy...he can be a liability in coverage. But no one was more disappointing than Wilcox IMO.

Keep Jones at FS...and at the very least, bring in someone (FA or rookie)...to compete with Church.

I think CB is a tricky position. I am sure you have a better shot at a blue chip player early in the draft but Josh Norman, Orlando Scandrick and Richard Sherman prove you can find talent all throughout the draft.

Part of it is luck and part of it is just finding a player that is perfect for your system. Regardless, I would feel comfortable throwing some mid round picks on the field if they don't seem like a deer in headlights at training camp.

Is Jones big enough? He looks kinda small to be a safety....

Yet he has elite size and speed at corner. Jones is also better in man coverage and made most of his errors playing zone. Leave it to the Cowboys to always settle on average as their standard of excellence under Garrett and Jerry.

Every position can be said the same thing. Players in every round can turn out great just like high picks can bust

I agree but you need about 4-5 corners and as of right now...we only have one coming back from a major injury, a guy we want to play safety and some question marks all around. We are going to have to find good corners in the middle rounds that are likely going to have to see significant time as a rookie.

Im worried about his size and how he will hold up against the run. He has the talent, heart, and skill. His narrow shoulders worry me.

Hes young, coachable, and seems to be the "rkg". Wish him the best

Umm Earl Thomas isnt even 6'0, he's 5'10. Byron jones is 6'1 & set a world record in the broad jump. Byron definitely has the speed, height, jump. He's still a young kid, expect him to work hard in the weight room this offseason, especially if he commits to saftey.
