Campbell
Washington Commanders quarterback Jason Campbell is one of the classiest players I've dealt with in the league, and that's why it's not surprising to see him taking the high road on the team's failed attempt to trade for Jay Cutler. He has every right to question his role on the team right now, but you won't hear any pouting out of him. It's too bad the Commanders were desperately attempting to trade Campbell for a quarterback who eventually whined his way out of Denver.

Campbell spent some time in head coach Jim Zorn's office this afternoon. It sounds like Zorn offered some reassuring words.

"That meant a lot to me," Campbell said, "to know that he's behind me and he's been behind me all along. You need to have that trust with your head coach because he's the one I'm going to be dealing with most of the time. I know that the coaches and my teammates are behind me. I trust them. That means a lot to me."

Campbell ackowledged his disappointment that the Commanders were attempting to trade him but added, "you can't let that get to you. You really just have to understand what it is. That's the business side of it and you have to go do your job still."

I think the Commanders ended up with right quarterback. It's too bad they don't feel the same way. Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato will spend the rest of the offseason wiping the egg off their faces.

Washington, we have a problem

It's official. Jay Cutler will be a Chicago Bear. The Washington Commanders took a mighty swing at Cutler -- and missed. Now they will deal with the fallout of letting their franchise quarterback Jason Campbell know that he's expendable. Of course, Campbell was already heading into the final year of his contract. But what happened Thursday is a completely different story.

Maybe we'll know soon how close the Commanders came to landing Cutler, but right now, it doesn't matter. They're in the same boat the Broncos were in late February with Cutler.

I don't think Commanders fans will give Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato much of a break over missing out on this deal. If you were wondering what the worst-case scenario was for the Commanders today, you're now staring at it.

JZ can be behind JC all day, it doesn't matter cause the midget and Vinny pull the strings and they think he SUCKS and spent the nite trying to get him outta town... That speaks volumes to what they think of JC...

See, this is all a quarterback asks for, a coach who is willing to lie to him when the team can't successfully trade him. McDaniels better be taking notes.

Snyde is such a little punk..he salivates any time there is a big name out there, he can care less about his players and disregards chemistry..

The way I see it, Zorn has no chance but to be behind Zorn. They are going to be a trainwreck this season. Campbell knows he isn't coming back and Zorn will soon figure out that the plan Snyder and Cerrato had was to trade for Cutler and then dump Zorn for Shanahan.

As much as I hate the Commanders, I really think a lot of the criticism of Jason Campbell is unfair. I mean look at that receiving corps, and you've got a prima donna of a running back in Clinton Portis. Add to that the most vanilla offense of all time last year...you're going to look bad.

He would've excelled in Denver.

I hope he's not dumb enough to fall for this "good cop/bad cop" routine.

Remind you of any other team that disregards character and chemistry, in exchange for potential talent?

If snyder is a punk, jones is a punk. Both spend big money to bring in players, in an attempt to help their respective teams win. I know you're as blind a homer as that a team can have, but try to put at least a little thought behind your responses.

Danny tried to go out and get a very solid QB that would vastly upgrade our offense. We came just a little bit short. Cant fault him for actually trying.

I bet you the same people who are dogging Campbell for being foolish or gullible are the same ones that were dogging Cutler for being a whining baby
