Can't see him netting anything better than a 4th rounder, if that. While Leary is a veteran, a team needing a G would be better off by simply drafting that position.

OGs who aren't pro-bowl caliber don't get traded for high round picks.

Brian Hoyer is about to get cut.
Better than Moore.

Not sure if he wins out v. Moore, but he'd be the perfect guy to bring in. He plays well (for a backup) when he's not under significant pressure. I'd be pretty happy with he and Moore fighting it out for that QB2 job and a quality rookie QB brought in to develop.

You listening to Fisher?

No, he's not. They may like him, but not better than Wentz.

I like him better as a developmental QB but that's because I don't have access to personal knowledge nor are we able to ask the Xx and Os.

not for 1 year

that is the big problem with RFA tenders

why use a 2nd when you can draft the 2nd or 3rd best OG and have him for 4 years for the same money

Because we know what we have in Leary and not in a draftee. And OGs generally need two years to develop.

No one is giving us a 2nd round pick or a worthy back-up for Leary.

Leary is horribly overrated by this fanbase and apparently by Dallas media as well.

You're completely wrong about his ability, but you're right about the 2nd-round pick.

Nobody is going to give a 2nd for a guy on a one-year contract that has a degenerative knee condition.

I would hate to lose Leary. It seems to me that the position he is in with the Cowboys is the best he can be in. His knee is not good for the regular wear and tear that a starting Guard would put on for a whole season. I think him being in a backup role suits him perfectly. He has got to be near the best backup guard in the NFL. And if it wasn't for that knee he would be worth a quit a bit. Its hard to judge the value of a backup QB compared to Leary. I would want a young guy with potential maybe a Brett Hundley?? But I still dont know If I would make that deal. Its tough

I really don't think we can afford to be worrying about backup O lineman when we have so many holes on this team. Leary is toast after this year so getting something of quality for him would be great. You have to like the trade that was made with New England for a starting guard and 2nd round pick for their pass rusher. Too mad Jerry doesn't come up with those kind of ideas.

As far as backup QB, I am not really interested in anyone other than a young stud to groom. However, I am quite certain that Jerry doenst agree. OR he will waste a 3rd round pick on a guy and hand him the keys like he did Quincy Bong Carter when the time comes.

Give me a list of the qbs we could get for Leary and then I'll decide. I have a feeling that list wouldn't look so great.

LOL...............true, and most of the NFL clearly values backup QB's more than Jerry does.

Although to be honest, Jerry being a bad GM may work in our favor in an odd way. Im my opinion, outside of the presence of Romo, this team is in full rebuild mode. If Romo goes down I see no reason why we wouldnt have another top 5 draft pick again. Hopefully that view may change after the draft.

Why am I not surprised at this post!
The idea to give the 2nd round tender was more to keep Leary, not get the 2nd round pick. But the 2nd round pick would be very good compensation. IMO anyway.

A few years or so ago, I can't remember the players involved. But think it was the OL. When asked if that made a certain player a trade possibility, Jerry said no, absolutely not. As you can never have enough quality OL. And it held to be true.

Why is this myth still around. His knee condition may come into play only if he if injures the knee. http://www.medicinenet.com/osteochondritis_dissecans/article.htm. Also depending on the grade of the condition also decides the severity. Right now he at his age he should be fine even witha some "minor" injuries the only time I see it being an issue is later on in his career.

Then Dallas is the only team with that opinion?

Comforting.

I'm pretty sure their are other teams that believe Lynch is better than Goff and Wentz. I'm also pretty sure some teams thought Leaf was better than Manning to.

Lynch was the #1 QB 2 months ago, what changed, he didn't play anymore games.

Give me with a little luck in the draft and I would be ecstatic

1st- RB- Elliott
2nd- DT- Neimche- however u spell his name. I doubt he falls but possible. actually I think he sneaks up into the top 15 range. U never knw though
3rd- QB- Prescott

Everybody always brings up his knee, but I don't recall him missing any games from it. In know it's supposed to be a degenerative condition that could come at anytime, but it may not ever give him trouble.

Isn't his knee issue how Collins got play time to begin with?
