IRVING, Texas -- Running back Lance Dunbar averages more yards per catch (12.5 ypg) than tight end Jason Witten (11.1). That would seem to indicate that the Cowboys need to do a little better job of getting the ball into his hands because he’s a play-maker. When play-caller Scott Linehan does want to get the ball to Dunbar, he’s done a good job of designing plays that get him the ball in space and on the move, where his combination of speed and quickness can result in a big play.

The dude is so average it's not funny. Yes we could use some big plays but I'm not expecting it from him with any sort of consistency

Hard to slice the ball that many ways. TWill didnt have a catch against the Jags. Where has Escobar been? Gotta get Dunbar involved more. Whatever man. Just Win baby.

With the 3 game stretch we have coming up we will get a chance to see Randle and Dunbar more. Hopefully they can make some plays we need or Murray will get overused.

I hope Linehan can get Dunbar the ball out in space, he has very good quickness and speed that can benefit the team. Clearly not guy who you expect to run between the tackles but if they can use him in the passing game I think he can help

I was expecting more from him because of his speed and the ability to operate in space that we have previously seen, but we really haven't seen it much this year.

I don't know how you can expect consistent big plays when he only gets 3 touches a game...

i dunno, ive seen much out of randle than dunbar this year which is exactly the opposite of what i was expecting. both are jags, i just though dunbar was a better jag lol.

The screen vs AZ was a thing of beauty. I'd like to see him get more touches as well similar to the SEA game. We're starting to see explosive plays from Dunbar. A lot depends on game flow. I guess it's a nice problem to have several weapons/mouths to feed. I think we'll start to see more big plays from him.

I think your expectation for what Dunbar is supposed to be is off. He's a role player with big play capabilities, not an every down back. That's exactly what he's shown. No back in the league is going to look special getting so few touches.

We really need to send some posters to football school....On limited touches he has done well. Likewise with Gavin and Joseph. There are only so many offensive plays in a game, even fewer for role players because of Murray and Bryant dominating the touches. Hell Witten is not getting the touches he is accustomed to.

People don't realize that expanding opportunities for the role players will lead to more opportunities for Bryant and Murray, and better opportunities.

Dunbar has been good this year. He nust hasnt been used. When they do use him, hes very effective. Nothing wrong with spreading the ball around.

If youre complaining about what he has been able to do, i have to assume youre basing your opinion on looking at his overall fantasy production this year.

thats very true and thats not going to change much either. you can't run the ball 25-30 times a game, get dez his touches and still get everyone else involved that you would like. there will be games where dunbar has a big day but he won't be a huge part of the offense because there is just so many balls to go around
if there was one guy i would design my offensive pass game around it would be as unionjack said, getting the ball in dez's hands in space. role players play a role and dunbar is a role plyer who is doing what he does fairly well.
what really matters is that the offense can move the ball, convert 3rd downs, and score points. who who gets the bulk of the work is not as important as getting the job done

I think the obstacle to getting Dunbar the ball is that just having him on the field is a huge "tell". With Murray on the field, he might run, he might block, he might go out for a pass. With Dunbar on the field it's all pass, he ain't blocking or running and if he does the defense isn't worried about it.... so they just get ready for a pass.
