Cowboys face decisions on DTs this week
November, 11, 2014
LONDON -- The Dallas Cowboys will have decisions to make on two defensive tackles this week.
Josh Brent's 10-game suspension came to an end on Sunday. He has been able to practice the last two weeks after the NFL revised his penalty for his involvement in the accident that cost the life of teammate and friend Jerry Brown in 2012.
While he was able to practice in London he was not able to be with the team on the sideline during the game.
Amobi Okoye's three-week practice window comes to a close as well. He is on the reserve non-football illness list as he comes back from anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis, a brain disorder that had Okoye in a coma for parts of last year.
The Cowboys will have to activate Okoye to 53-man roster or keep him on NFI for the rest of the season. The Cowboys signed Okoye to a two-year deal in the offseason knowing he might not be able to play this season. It is likely the Cowboys will keep Okoye on NFI and give him a full offseason program and spring and training camp in order to be at his best in terms of football shape.
The Cowboys can delay a roster decision on Brent by asking for a two-week roster exemption. If they get the exemption, then Brent's first game could come on Thanksgiving against thePhiladelphia Eagles.
