I don't get the deal of people needing to judge talent before the season even starts. Only way we can truly judge the talent is when we are at least halfway through the season. I guess I hate building up too much confidence in our rookie players before the season is here. They got to earn the respect!

Wait, I thought he could only walk on water and turn it into wine

Now he is doing the drafting too?

An offensive guru who had to be completely removed from having any input in the offense ?

He's the HC. It's his show. And the team's got a history of organizing its scouting department according to the directives of the coach. Given JG's upbringing with the scouting in his family and the emphasis he put on getting scouts and position coaches to work together that was talked about a fair amount when he first took over, it's obvious where the changes have taken place.

That said, I was really using the Garrett regime as the placeholder for the last few years since it's been a pretty stark turnaround. It doesn't matter to me if it started a year before or a year after he took over. The point is that many, many were making the case that the drafting had not, in fact, gotten any better in recent years when it very clearly has indeed gotten a lot better. Just one more item on the long list of complaints that weren't actually things worth complaining about.

So in your world, the HC has no input into the game plan for the week? He doesn't have control during the game, like say, go for it on 4th down, or lets run it here or let's pass it here. The HC does not have any say whatsoever in the operation of the team? That might be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Really.. that's just out there. So I guess Jimmy didn't have any say either, since Norv was the OC or didn't have any input on the D since Dave was the DC???

And you are foolish if you don't think Garrett has a HUGE say in who is drafted and who is not. It's his team. He has a vision of what that team will look like and he has gone about building it, very successfully too.. 12-4 last year. We are lucky to have him as a coach, very very lucky. And before you go off on the 3 8-8 seasons, I will just go on record as saying that the last 8-8 year, might have been the best coaching job I have ever seen. It was amazing we could win 8 games with the amount of injuries that the team had, especially to one position group.

By your comments I can only assume you have never heard yourself speak and your memory is failing you

Ok

Jerry is a football idiot of the highest order who was single-handedly responsible for almost 20 years of misery for cowboy fans

In the last 2 years, I give him credit for allowing real football people to make decisions so fans have real hope after a long long long long long..... time

Better ?

Nothing has changed regarding the decision-making process. Nothing.

Jerry's the GM in name only, just like he's always been. And he'll STILL be the convenient target if things go wrong, just like he's always been.

The article isn't about rookies.

Rams were #1 last year. And down the stretch, they really played some tough football......

Maybe not this year, but I am sensing the 70s early 80s playoffs rivalry getting started again.

Could you imagine Dickerson behind the Cowboys OL now?

So after going 3 for 3000 at bats jerry suddenly went 10 for 20?

Got it

Here we go again with the word "talent"

Used quite a bit in the Wade era.

Goes through me like a nail.
