ESPN: Cowboys not expected to trade QB Tony Romo

Amen to that. Part of the reason our defense sucks as bad as it does was because of paying Romo a ton of money. We got one playoff win out of that contract. Wasn't worth it.
Nobody forced the team to pay Romo that much so I can't be mad at him. Like any of us would turn down money at our jobs

I think that we probably don't need the cap dollars but I realize I'm not privy to any of that. If you'll send him anywhere then you can afford to release him later. But I have no inside information so everyone is guessing.

last time i looked, we have ~10M of space after all the fa signings.
even if we trade for richardson, that is 8M in 2017, and that can be opened up by restructuring dez or tcrawford.

like u said, we are all guessing.

I think Houston wants Romo, that's why they made that trade with Cleveland...as far as I'm concerned Houston can cough up a draft pick or they can over pay NE for Garroplo, draft a QB, sign one of the available FA's or go into the season with Weedon as your starter.

Figures..............looks like Jerry gave it one last shot and nobody took the bait........that contract is just not tradable.

This is what happens when you restructure a contract a gazillion times, its not moveable.

Romo will be released this week, almost a given at this point..........I know you guys don't like it, but it is what it is.

$14 mil for a proven great QB is an INSANELY good deal for a tradeable contract.

My goodness it is almost Monday and Tony Romo is still a Dallas Cowboy.

it was not fair to the team to pay him 20M when he was injured.

So Romo was supposed to take a pay cut because he got hurt and the team decided to stay with the hot hand even though he was ready to play? It would be great for the team if a player gets injured they get docked money for every game they miss or if the team decides to stay with their replacement. Doubt will ever see that happen.

contract works for you and works against you.
romo taking $ during injury was as far as the team leveraging him for a pick by holding on to him as allowed by contract.
no difference

:espn: Don't let these BSPN clowns dupe you into believing their fake news stories. Romo was never going to be cut from the Cowboys. The Media rumors of his imminent release has ruined his trade value for the time being, so of course the new story is "Cowboys not expected to trade Romo".

My only other theory is jerry wants to lead the new season and trade/release will happen Monday morning. If not buckle up for a long wait till June 1

If I'm Houston I'm overpaying for Garroplo. Much more tread left on the tires, still an unknown, but IMHO a safer risk with much better shot at good long term returns paying off.

.....and I hate saying that as a Cheatriots hater, and a trade like them would help them reload thru draft picks.

Teams don't want to "over pay" for Romo yet Mike Glennon is now making 15 mil a year....
Glendon is 27 years old, fans have to understand it's not about ability with Romo. It's his age and his injury history.

Umm...no. Romo got paid what he was worth as a franchise QB. The reason the defense sucks is because of management and coaching. Garrett coached two among the most historically bad defenses in Cowboys history. This is one of the worst and most roundabout reasons to take a potshot at Tony.

You gotta understand that when you have an NFL franchise without a QB who can get you to the super bowl then you don't have an NFL franchise. Ask the Jets, Bills, Houston, Denver, Minn, KC, Mia, Jax, Cle, Rams, Bears.

Oh no, I'm not mad at Romo for taking the money either. I'm mad at the team for paying him that money. He managed to lead his team to 1 playoff win after getting that massive contract.
