Your comparing the best oline in pro football to how our defense stops a goal line situation. Plus we added Hardy, Jones, Gregory, etc. I think your assessment of the D is too premature.

With or without the last few days of training camp and the OLs domination, I still dont see, a major upgrade on the Defense. Now, down the line, Gregory, sign Hardy, Jones, Dlaw and others all step up and be what we think they can be, then yes.... we should have a pretty strong D.

I'm just not sure it happens this season. But having Rod at DC, makes things a lot easier :):)

I think declaring the Defense to be top 10 D is a bit premature....but maybe they dont have to be top 10? Since the OL will be able to steam roll any DL.

Exactly I look at it this way let's say our offensive line is a 10, and our defensive line is an 8. Of course our oline will win majority of those battles. But when we are playing other teams whose offensive lines are only 7 or 8 that's when we'll see this defense shine.
Look what we did last year with the front 4/5 we had I have no concern with the turnover on the front line ... Sean back ... Hitch, DLaw, and RoMc in their 2nd year in the system. An upgraded 2ndry.

OXNARD, Calif. -- To say Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett and defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli were disappointed with the unit during the goal-line work on Saturday would be a massive understatement.

The first- and second-team offenses scored on seven of eight goal-line snaps.

"Not good enough," Marinelli said. "Nothing to say. Just, the film shows it. You saw it. Not good enough."

With the Cowboys holding out starting running back Joseph Randle from the live action, undrafted rookie Gus Johnson scored three touchdowns. On the second score, tight ends Jason Witten and James Hanna collapsed the defensive line and left guard Ronald Leary and fullback Tyler Clutts took care of safeties Barry Church and J.J. Wilcox. On the last touchdown, Johnson loaded up on Wilcox at the goal line.

I truly hope this is a sign of how dominating our offense will be this year, and consequently will make our defense that much better going against that level of competition day in and day out. Can't wait to see this team go against someone lese to get a real feel for how good or bad this defense will really be this season.

Its a work in progress..

oh my..

I do think we have one of the best OLs in the league. And they are young, so the sky is the limit.

It doesn't change the fact that , for the most part, we have an unproven D.

Just about every team, can point to some FA pick ups, and their draft, and say, we will be better this year!! By that logic Phillys Offense is going to be off the charts. But our additions will be better then their additions? Right?

Hardy will be gone for 4. McClain, gone for 4. Byron, Gregory, are rookies. DLAW, had some good games, but still looked raw, we picked up White from NO and some middle tier LBs................................okay.

We are weak up the middle. We lost some decent performing LBs......Can Lee hold up?

I love the enthusiasm and all, and I love the direction, I am excited about the direction the Cowboys are headed......but are we there yet? Can this D be good enough to take over games? Can it stop Rodgers, when the offense slips up on that important drive?

Im not sure we are there yet. They will need to be more then "Just fine" if we have any plans on getting Witten and Romo a ring this year.

By the logic Philly's offense will be off the charts? Haha they have downgraded QB, RB, WR and OL.....how again is that going to be off the charts

downgraded according to who?

Ok who would have taken McCoy over Murray before last season? Bradford is always hurt and Foles is better. Your top WR is Riley Cooper haha and lost multiple OL.....ya I say it downgraded

I actually agree with you, but there are many who dont think that way,,,,,The Eagles think Bradford , who has pedigree, can be the guy. They signed Murray, top rusher in the league last year, and Matthews.

I was just making a point. Until proven otherwise, counting on our Defense to be top 10, because we added Hardy and a few rookies is a big jump imho......

Bradford, Murray and Matthews are all injury prone, neither one of them has made it through a season without being hurt. Murray does not fit into Chips hurry up no huddle offense. For anybody to say at this point in time that Eagles offense is upgraded is full of it.

Dallas didn't just get Hardy in free agency. Lee is back, Mo is healthy, DL had more depth, Gregory and Jones are highly rated rookies, young players like DLAW will develop some, Crawford will improve. Not saying they are top 10 but no reason why they shouldn't or can't. I believe Dallas defense will be rated top 10 before this "upgraded Philly offense" is top 5

The Cowboys lack of size on the defensive front isn't going to lend itself to being good in goal line situations. They will have to beat teams off the snap with quickness in an effort to get upfield. Where the Marinelli Tampa 2 defense succeeds is allowing yards between the 20s, but tightening up inside the 20 on passing downs.
