Him being moved to 2nd string has nothing to do with anybody being impatient. He was brought here to be the back up because they didnt trust Moore in that role.
Now, If Weeden struggles this week. And the staff feels like Cassell has been looking better or at least as good as Weeden in practices. Then yeah. he could very well start the Giants game.
Because they won't be able to stomach another week of Weeden starting after this Sunday, when he goes 0-4 as a starter in Dallas and 0 for his last 14 starts in his career.
The bye week provides an ideal time to make that switch and get Cassel as ready as possible. First objective, don't be Brandon Weeden.
I absolutely believe that if Weeden doesn't make a good showing in this game, he never starts forDallasanother team again.

Weeds sucks, yes he does. But last time I checked the defense has let this team down. Not him. If the D continues to play like it has the past 2 weeks Romo couldn't save this mess. Plus add in the horrific WR's this team has I don't see Cassel having any better results. Weeds is a loser, but the rest of the team currently is not that great either.

It's not like Matt Cassel is a world beater. He's a career loser, he's on his 4th team in the last 3 years, he was just beat out by Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel, in Buffalo. I'm not a fan of Weeden, by any means, but I don't see Cassel as significantly better. His one and only playoff start, he was 9/18 for 70 yards.
Nobody said Cassel was great. At some point you have to pull the plug on a QB whose gone nearly a full season of starts without a win. There's a reason why that's happened. He's a loser.
Yes, he is a loser. So is Matt Cassel. Would you rather have Tim Tebow? He is a "winner".

He'll be in by halftime.....

Remind what Kellen Moore not starting means for this team? Could have sworn it was something bad. Anybody? No? Ok then.
I could very easily see that. The bye week provides an ideal time to make that switch and get Cassel as ready as possible.
Cowboy fans will rue the day they let Kellen Moore go.
That day will commence 10 years of rabid complaining from Boise fans that we should have given him an opportunity when we have the chance. Even when he goes in to never attempt an regular season pass and looks mediocre at best VS 4th stringers at each of his numerous future NFL stops
