Him being moved to 2nd string has nothing to do with anybody being impatient. He was brought here to be the back up because they didnt trust Moore in that role.
Now, If Weeden struggles this week. And the staff feels like Cassell has been looking better or at least as good as Weeden in practices. Then yeah. he could very well start the Giants game.

That is essentially what I said though you went in more detail.

Because they won't be able to stomach another week of Weeden starting after this Sunday, when he goes 0-4 as a starter in Dallas and 0 for his last 14 starts in his career.

The bye week provides an ideal time to make that switch and get Cassel as ready as possible. First objective, don't be Brandon Weeden.

Weedan's passer rating is 108. You can't replace those stats with just any QB.

Weeds sucks, yes he does. But last time I checked the defense has let this team down. Not him. If the D continues to play like it has the past 2 weeks Romo couldn't save this mess. Plus add in the horrific WR's this team has I don't see Cassel having any better results. Weeds is a loser, but the rest of the team currently is not that great either.

Defense deserves blame no doubt. But offense has been unable to generate any TOP in 2nd half of last 2 games. Lots of blame to go around.

It's not like Matt Cassel is a world beater. He's a career loser, he's on his 4th team in the last 3 years, he was just beat out by Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel, in Buffalo. I'm not a fan of Weeden, by any means, but I don't see Cassel as significantly better. His one and only playoff start, he was 9/18 for 70 yards.

Nobody said Cassel was great. At some point you have to pull the plug on a QB whose gone nearly a full season of starts without a win. There's a reason why that's happened. He's a loser.

Yes, he is a loser. So is Matt Cassel. Would you rather have Tim Tebow? He is a "winner".

You are the loser ..sooner you realize it..the better.

It's really going to be hard to watch your eagles and patriots get their *** whipped in the same year.

You are a damn troll who pays money to troll.

Perfectly said. This defense has been a disgrace in big spots. Marinelli should be embarrassed. You have a backup QB drive the team 90 yds to tie the game late, and what does the defense do? They let the Saints do anything they wanted from that point on.

I don't really care if Weeden or Cassel starts. Because if Dallas cannot find a way to consistently run the ball for 4 quarters, they aren't winning with either QB.

Remind what Kellen Moore not starting means for this team? Could have sworn it was something bad. Anybody? No? Ok then.

He'll be in by halftime.....

That's a distinct possibility -- much depends upon how Weeden performs. The FO is surely taking precautions. Of course, whether or not Cassel is able to provide appreciable relief or not would remain to be seen. NE should prove a tough test, regardless of whoever steps in at QB. At least, Cassel has experience vs. NE's defensive system for whatever good it might do.

That pretty much coincides with my thinking. Cassel may not be the cure-all for everything that ails us right now but if we lose poorly against NE, the Dallas staff will surely feel compelled to do something to stop the bleeding.

After the bye week, Cassel should have had ample time to feel comfortable with the offense. Even Jerry's love affair with Weeden's "thing of beauty" passes will likely have gone by the wayside and into the dumpster.

Enter Matt Cassel -- he may not be the "cat's meow" but he's our appointed alternative. We'll see what follows.

Cowboy fans will rue the day they let Kellen Moore go.

That day will comence 10 years of rabid complaining from Boise fans that we should have given him an opportunity when we have the chance. Even when he goes in to never attempt an regular season pass and looks mediocre at best VS 4th stringers at each of his numerous future NFL stops

I wouldn't be too surprised if the staff and FO elected to hang on to Moore. Cassel isn't getting any younger and Kellen might quite possibly be retained as a backup, if nothing else. It's even conceivable that he might have been our #2 backup right now if he'd had some regular season experience during his career. Cassel's experience may very well have proven the deciding factor with regards to his getting the nod in that situation.
