I think pretty much every team comes out publicly saying they "like what they have" or "are comfortable with where they are" in regards to a certain player or position. I've always said it's more important to watch someone does rather than what he/she says, and in the case of the Cowboys and the RB situation, if they're different, fine. If they're telling the world they're comfortable with the RB situation, but privately working out or looking at a bunch of RB's, fine. Rather have it that way than the other way around. I'd be really anxious if they were saying how much they need to improve the RB situation, but then doing nothing about it. No, they didn't draft one, but I don't fault them for taking the players they did. They looked at several backs in the draft, and decided that most wouldn't be an improvement over what they have. Maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong. We worry that they're being too arrogant when it comes to the position. But to say we know that (insert name) would be better, is pretty arrogant, too. And don't bring up Gurley or Gordon, because we really didn't have a chance at those two. Would Coleman, Ajaiy (?), Duke, etc. have been improvements? Maybe, maybe not. Would I rather have one of them than Randy Gregory? Not right now.
For now, it's May. There's still a long way to go before we get to the season, and even then, there's still time to make changes if needed. Are they wrong in thinking the RB's they have will be good enough, and that we really don't need to add anyone? Perhaps. I personally could care less if they work out every available RB on the planet. It's what teams do. We'll bring in OL at some point. We'll work out a kicker. We'll work out LB's. I don't think the problem most are having is working players out. I don't think it's the notion that they're saying one thing and doing another. All teams do that, too. It's that there is so much unrest (at least among fans and media) with the current stable, whereas we feel a lot better about those other positions. Personally, I think that if the RB's we have stay healthy, we'll be fine. Remember, nobody was doing cartwheels about Murray at this time last year. We had hope, but we had a lot of concerns as well. Fortunately, things worked out. They may very well work out again. They might need to change.
Teams work out players for any number of reasons. Sometimes, it's because they're intentionally looking to improve or replace someone who got hurt. Sometimes, as in the case of Felix, it's as a courtesy. Sometimes, it's just seeing what's out there, in case a need arises down the line. They'll keep looking, and planning, and preparing, just as they should
