Dallas press corps: A dud that needs to be flushed

Tell me about it. Seems that MacMahon believes that no rookies that ever turn out to be good have struggles with the playbook.

I know this is a little bit off the subject, but to those of you who think that Marty Bennett doesn't know the playbook, this is what happens to players who REALLY don't know the playbook. Although the high ankle sprain certainly didn't help at the begining of the season, had he known where and when he was supposed to be, he would have gotten more playing time.

...the playbook on offence, as was apparent with Bennett on TV, often the QB doesn't go to you. I don't think he was given too many difficult assignments.

If on defence you don't know the playbook a NFL calibre OC and QB will find you and make you pay for it.

It two different things when you don't know the playbook from offence to defence. The defensive guy gets pulled ASAP because he's a liability. The offensive guy is usually only a liability in protection schemes and the QB has the clock time to reset the wandering player and point out his assignment.

I believed that has happened a few times with Bennett last year.

When you dont start your draft until the 3rd round you get alot of uncertainty. Scouting is an inexact science but there are reasons why alot of these guys had 3rd round and lower grades by alot of scouts.
