ORLANDO -- Stephen Jones won't confirm which college prospects will visit Valley Ranch, but LSU wide receiver Brandon LaFell said he will come for a talk on March 31.

LaFell, from Houston, ranks second in school history with 25 touchdown catches, including 19 in his final two seasons.

But LaFell has some issues.

He ran a slow 40 at the combine, 4.60 but regrouped at LSU's Pro Day with a 4.56 and a 4.54. LaFell said he strained his hamstring a week before the Pro Day, but didn't let that stop him from running in it.

He also had a bad hammy at the combine.

"It's been very, very long and it took a while to get here, but its been smooth so far," LeFell said. "I tried to do everything I could at the combine. The combined didn't go well for me, after the combine was over I came back home and worked harder for my pro day. I strained my hamstring a week before pro day and it didn’t stop me from going to pro day."

LeFell, who is 6-2 1/2, 211 pounds, was criticized for dropping some passes in his career, but did a good job at the combine in solving that problem.

"I hope I showed everybody I can catch the ball," he said. "That's been the biggest thing teams have asked me about and at the combine I showed everybody something."

We're not sure who the Cowboys will draft in the first round, but its obvious they're looking at quite a few wide receivers. Dez Bryant is scheduled to visit the complex on April 1.

Playing for the Cowboys is a dream for LaFell, because growing up in Houston he was a Dallas Cowboys fan, not a Houston Oilers fan.

"The Oilers weren't that good," LaFell said. "Growing up the Oilers moved, so I had to root for the Cowboys because they were always winning. It would be a dream of mine to play for them because I know I can help those guys."

Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett and wide receivers coach Ray Sherman has spent some time with LaFell at the combine.

I just question how serious Dallas is about any WR that does not offer something in the return game.

couple of the names linked to them do. Benn and Bryant. Doesn't C. Mitchell have some experience to?

Lafell in the 2nd?

Um, no.

He offers nothing to the return game and he's #4 on the depth chart at best for a few years.

stay away from LSU players
Agreed, last time we took a LSU WR we got Skyler Green who did nothing up until when he got cut.

So what are you trying to tell us, that you have a chronically bad hammy?

This is a pretty poor WR class and unless Tate's available w/ our second pick, I'd stay away from drafting one in the first 3 rounds.

Yuck. Much rather wait a few rounds and take our chances on a player like David Gettis of Baylor.

Slow and can’t catch. Just what we need.
Yep, we don't need more receivers like that. One is enough.
