Yea, I remember that one. He had a monster game against Philly in a 14-13 win too. But my point is that there weren't that many better, or even really comparable, to the game Lawrence just played.

Yeah. Just tells you to not let D-Law's last game set expectations. If one of the all-time great pash rushers only had that kind of performance a handful of times...

"It's a contract year, so what?" Lawrence said. "I want to be here forever. This year don't define me as a player. Y'all might say it's because it's a contract year, but the first year I was balling. My second year I was balling. My third year I had trouble with my back, so it didn't seem like I was there. This year doesn't define me."
Sounds like he is expecting a big deal after this year.

Hmmm. Look like very different players to me, but I'll take his word for it.

Did you read the story or just the headline?

"I thought I saw a flash of myself," Ware said after the Cowboys' win over the Giants. "He played well. He's coming along and you can see how much he has matured. He's maturing to the point where he's not a DeMarcus Ware lookalike, it's DeMarcus Lawrence. He's becoming his own man."

Lawrence reminds me of Charles Haley in that he was ALWAYS around the QB and constantly harassing the QB, whereas, Ware would occasionally be around the QB and have the occasional fast rush around the corner to take down the QB. I loved Ware, but I REALLY love what I'm seeing out of Lawrence right now.

I was responding to Ware's direct quote: "I thought I saw a flash of myself." Ware was a great player. D-Law has had a great stretch. The only commonality there is the concept of greatness. I have never once been reminded of Ware when watching D-Law play. But as I said, I'll take his word for it.

Yeah definitely seems to be puffing up his credentials. Guess I'd give him his second year (though Hardy was attracting all the attention), but "balling" his first year? Wow. Dude was invisible but for a brilliant strip sack fumble recovery to close out Detroit in the playoffs. He wasn't "balling" his rookie year. He made a great play.

Ware had probably less than 5 games where he was as dominant as Lawrence was.

I don't remember any of them, but I'm sure there were a couple lol
There were plenty. Scary thing is... the Cowboys lost a lot of those games.

Very few could dip the shoulder and turn the corner like D Ware, he never really was the same player after hurting his neck IMO though.

Ware was more of a sleek technician. Lawerance is playing like he's in a street brawl.

I don't think the "flash of myself" had to do with playing style since Ware acknowledges that Lawrence is not a "Ware lookalike" and is "becoming his own man."

Often reporters' questions are not given, so Ware easily could have been asked if this DeMarcus reminds him of himself. I think you got it right that the only "flash" is the commonality of greatness. I think the first part of the quote is misleading because we don't know what he was asked. All we do know is how Ware defined Lawrence after that response.

Demarcus Ware on Cowboys' DeMarcus Lawrence: 'I thought I saw a flash of myself

I'd like one more year of Ware in 2018.

Take a year off and get recharged, bro.

Then strap the pads on.

Its certainly been done before.

Sam Huff of the Giants and Commanders used to retire annually.

No big deal, sir.

So what Lawrence has done once, which is an impressive feat, a first ballot hall of famer did 8 more times and yet you can barely remember him looking as dominant?

Nevermind sacks alone do not a dominant game define.

I mean i'm really not going to debate this with you. Ware was one of the best defenders in the history of the game. People aren't even ready to give Lawrence a long-term contract.

This is silly.

It’s a shame you have to say this. Really.

I wonder how many players in league history have more than 9 3 sack games

Lawrence is actually better the last three games than ware because he's playing tougher than ware. Wares game was built on speed, Lawrence is doing it all although not quite as fast probably.
