Knew we wouldn't get him, but don't like the idea of him running that D.

Hope Campo can keep us competitive! :D

Isn't Phillips working in the last year of his deal? Unless there are assurances that Garrett will be his replacement, I don't see how Dallas lands a solid DC since more turnover in the staff is a pretty good possibility next year.

Thats why I think that Capers to Dallas is still a possibility. IF Garrett is "coach in waiting" for the HC position here, he has already let it be known that he wanted Capers if he was to get another HC spot elsewhere.

The New York Giants are targeting Dom Capers as their next defensive coordinator, replacing Steve Spagnuolo, who was hired as Rams coach on Saturday, sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen Saturday.

NFL.com Video

The Rams and Buccaneers hired new coaches Saturday, Steve Spagnuolo and Raheem Morris.
Capers was New England's special assistant/secondary coach this season.

Capers was given permission and has interviewed for the Packers' defensive coordinator job but is more likely to go with Coughlin. Capers worked with Coughlin in Jacksonville in 1999 and 2000.

So is Osi going to be an OLB now?

And Tuck doesn't seem like a 34 lineman, either.

Either way, good. They'll take a step back.

So the G-men are going to hire a 3-4 coach to run their 4-3 defense???

What a dumb arse move (not that I am complaining of course!!!)

Depending on who is brought in as DC, Wade will still control it, IMO. If Capers does come in, maybe not so much since he knows the 3-4. But it is a different 3-4.

I was hoping Dallas would hire Capers as our DC. It seems logical.....and therefore will probably not happen in Dallas.

Jets? Who cares. Giants? Even better. The DC for the Giants is pretty good now, why change it?

he has coached 4-3 defenses before, though he prefers the 3-4

It isn't going to be Capers, it is going to be Grantham. Dom Capers at Houston tanked, once Grantham left. Prior to Grantham leaving, Houston showed steady improvement defensively. Grantham had two years as DC at Cleveland, his last season a failure. The last season was pretty much a season of turmoil overall, so I wouldn't take it with asmuch value.

The first season, their pass defense improved but their run defense was weak. But the latter was an inherited problem, with no talent up-front. The Browns rectified it this year, going out to get Shaun Rodgers. If Grantham had him at NT during his stint, I think they would have been pretty beastly, considering their pass defense.

Why do people always do this? You should know better than this considering we.ve been running a 3-4 for this long. Tuck and Umenyiora go 275 and 265 respectively. They have their bookends.

The issue would be DE and NT but thinking they would play anything other than that? Come on.

Grantham would be a good choice IMO if for no other reason than that he seemed to be a "Wade hire" last year.

But with Spears and Ratliff having their best years, I almost wish he could stay at D-line coach.

I wish we could get a Pagano or Manusky or someone who worked with Wade before... But there may not be a guy like that out there.

All I know is... Anyone but Campo. Dear God, please.

That is another reason. Grantham briongs continuity to this defense, and the defensive line has been playing much better with him as their coach. If we move Grantham up, do you know of any names for DL coaches that suit the style Wade's defense plays?

Think about it. Think about it real hard.
I thought about it, and it didn't make sense.

Just say what you're thinking. That Osi would be a 34 end? And Tuck would be a DE?
