I actually take solace in this. It shows that the team, my team, didn't really want to add Rayne. They exhausted all possible options before bringing that kind of person into the locker room.

It shows me that they are at least aware of the problem.

Thank you for proving my point. Any player that turns out to be a good or great player who was not drafted #1 is "lucky" by that definition. As such, that means almost all of the best players or even good players in the league, except the ones drafted with the first overall pick were "lucky" picks. When every team is "lucky", that in itself negates the importance or even relevance of being "lucky".

If 5 people win a million dollars, they are lucky. If almost everyone wins a million dollars, then no one is lucky. I guess you could say the ones who did not win a million dollars are "unlucky" though if that helps :)
The Vikings were lucky to get Randy Moss and lucky Dallas passed on Randy.

If after twenty years of GM ineptitude and team mediocrity...if we get something to celebrate that would be awesome! I'll be celebrating for the players and coaches and other fans.

I'm sure Jones gets into the HOF this summer or next. Rich people take good care of each other and Jerry has helped the other owners make a lot of money.

I'll probably tune in and watch his induction speed to see all the Cowboy players and I'll probably chuckle at his jokes. Jones makes things interesting I'll give him that.

As for giving him credit for landing Romo or Dak.... no. He didn't have a clue what he was getting either time.
Well said indeed sir.

One habit I wish Jerry would stop doing is talking to the press about the "could haves". Like when we drafted Martin over Johnny Football. A couple weeks or months later Jerry told the media he still laments over that decision. Or on draft day after we didn't trade for Lynch. Why come out and and tell the media that he didn't sleep last night because of not doing enough to draft Lynch. Dude, why say that. Not every trade or draft pick goes your way and other GM's aren't publicly talking about who they wished they would have gotten or trades they didn't pull the trigger on.

That irritates me with Jerry, he doesn't have to be completely transparent on some issues with the media.

I hate hearing that jackass speak but when he screws himself in the process like he did in the circumstances you mentioned, its deliciously sweet to see him indict himself with his own words as the idiot "football man" he has always been....Johnny Football vs Zach...pffft

Paxton Lynch dallas offered a 2 and 4 then I guess a 2nd offer of 1 and 4 ,denver gave a 1 and 3.
The next day, owner Jerry Jones lamented that he was unable to trade up to get the quarterback the Cowboys coveted: "I'm not gonna go jump from Dallas' tallest, so let's put this in perspective ... but if I had to do it all over again? I'd give the three."

This pretty much say lynch was the qb they valued and wanted the most.

It was all luck to draft Dak, and then more luck or events that put him in the starting role in PS, and with that he earned the start
game 1 and the rest is history.

Dak got a opportunity at the misfortune of kellen and romo, and he has made the most of it, he was ready, and has worked hard
against the odds, and opinions of everyone, to be a success, I respect that, and is part of why I want him to keep the starting qb role
for rest of this season.

After attempts to draft Lynch and then Cook ... after trying to trade for Foles and then McCown ... the Cowboys were forced to give first-team reps to rookie fourth-round pick Prescott.

They'd tried everything, but the season was less than two weeks away, and they had no other choice.

Fate wanted Dak to start lol, and the cowboys were forced into it by all that had transpired.

It has given us a goood season, I think better than 2014, I have more confidence about winning games, and more importantly
beating any team , than I did in 2014.
People say EE is the key, or the OL, and they are, but to me it all revolves around Dak and his play, take him out,
and it isnt the same team anymore.
