How did Dallas D dominate Eagles?

IRVING, Texas -- It’s one of the biggest mysteries of the NFL season.

How did this Dallas defense dominate that Philadelphia Eagles' offense? How did Monte Kiffin’s vulnerable bunch shut down Chip Kelly’s explosive group?

The Cowboys rank dead last in defense, allowing an average of 418.6 yards per game. The Eagles average 420.6 yards of offense, ranking second in the league. Kelly’s Oregon offenses put up an average of 601 yards and 50 points in three Pac-12 matchups against Kiffin’s USC defenses.

The Cowboys were able to contain LeSean McCoy in their first meeting with the Eagles this season.
But the Cowboys limited the Eagles to 278 yards and a field goal Oct. 20 in Philadelphia, keying a 17-3 Dallas win that was critical to making Sunday night’s rematch a win-or-go-home affair.

“We hustled and just really played well that day,” Kiffin said. “We have to do it again. They’re better now.”

Well if you look at the All-22, it was mostly Foles ineptness. We did a good job versus the run but they had receivers streaking open but Foles didn't pull the trigger and when he didn't, he missed badly.

Ware didn't play that game, but I think not having Lee will have a bigger impact than not having Ware.

Exactly, Foles was simply awful. It was very windy that day and he didn't deal with it well and then he seemed to lose his confidence. Plus his WRs dropped a few. And then of course he got a concussion and we got to see Matt Barkley.

Bottom line, we did a good job on McCoy but their terrible passing numbers were largely due to Foles being terribad.

Hopefully, the Stadium can get loud. If there was ever a game where we need a home field advantage, this is it.

they executed their game plan on defense and did enough on offense to win the game

They are actually worse when Ware is in the game. The backups are playing better than him this season.

What's it going to be then, eh?

It also was the first time Dallas used any type of exotic nickel looks defensively up until that point in the season. It could have easily been a case where we showed some things they were not prepared for.

Kiffin will not have that advantage this time.

Lee played a major role in containing McCoy, and honestly Foles probably had that concussion a lot earlier in the game compared to when he came out of the game

We were jamming receivers and Hatcher, Selvie and Wynn consistently won their battles on the line. We need a repeat of that. Ware needs to show up for this one.

I remember Foles missing on a ton of open receivers..

His accuracy was pathetic. There were deep passes to be made in that game and he missed practically every one. Whether it was the wind or not, it was a big factor. Even bigger than the rush rattling him.

If monte plays zone this week we lose by 30
The eagles offense mostly get man; zone is probably best. They lead the the league in big plays and if we play zone, we can minimize them and make Philly work more by keeping everything in front of us.

We gave Foles a concussion and then he played horribly. His backup played even worse. Of course you can't legally game plan for that.

Maybe we should sit Ware again. He does nothing when on the field anyhow.
