FRISCO, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is wearing a back brace as he begins to recover from a compression fracture of his L1 vertebra that he suffered Thursday against the Seattle Seahawks.

"We've gotten a lot of different timetables for when he can return," Garrett said. "We also know that he's played with a broken bone in his back before so there's no reason for me to stand up here and put a timetable on this. I think a lot of other people outside of this building have suggested they know what the timetable is. That's not the world we live in. We live in the world day by day, do what you can to get yourself better and we'll update you as we go."

At least Garrett has finally admitted to the world that he and Jerry don't deal in reality.

I think if we fans know that "day to day" translates into, "Lucky if the player returns this season.", the coaches on other teams do as well.

If you take everything see you've actually seen with your own eyes regarding his injury and knowledge about Romo as a competitor you can safely conclude, in my opinion, that he will not be out long at all. Because:

1. As bad as it looked initially, he was lobbying HARD to get back in the game and was moving well and seemed unphased and confident in post game interviews. And to those who say Romo always does this, no. When he broke his collarbone last year, he knew it and you could see the disgust in his face and made no attempt to lobby to get back in the game.

A cracked bone in his back and a snapped collarbone are different injuries. Adrenaline is what you are referring to here.

I know I don't want to push a hobbled player out there when they are not capable. I do not care who they are. He would be a sitting duck.

I love the guy. Have the upmost respect for him as a warrior. That being said, he has a BROKEN BONE in his already problematic back. He is 36. This injury should cause serious dialogue about retirement around the Romo household. There's what's right and there's what's right and never the twain shall meet.

Well If I'm the defensive coordinator for the first few weeks with the Boys on the schedule, I have an easy job. Blitz until it hurts. Don't matter which QB it is, Romo or Dak.

That's what I'm taking it as too. I think it's a big mistake. You have to get it healed first.

Without any info being put out there by the front office l speculation runs wild. None of us know. It could be 4 weeks, it could be 10 weeks.

I don't want to play the Romo waiting game again. We played it last year. It was disappointing.

It is what it is, and Tony will be back as soon as he can.

Until then, we have a rookie fourth rounder starting for us. Maybe the best fourth rounder ever, but still, there are reasons he lasted until the fourth.

It would be ridiculous to roll Romo out there game one.
As stated by several above let Dak see what he can do for a couple of games. If we go down 2 out of 3 hit the panic button.

What? So because he did it before is a reason to believe he can do it again? Several years later and older?

The timetable needs to be when he is healthy. Not when he wants it, not if the team needs it. When he is healed completely.

The ambiguity just creates a lack of focus and creates false hope. I would prefer they have a timetable on the long end and make themselves grow up whether they want to or not. I don't know if Garrett is prepared to wean himself away from Romo. And that's a little sad.

How much more can his wife Candice take?? A 36 year old in two slings last year, surgery in the offseason, and now a back brace?? Good grief, for the love of the game!! And millions!

Hyman Roth will never see the new year.

Tony Romo will never play the whole season.




I doubt that he finishes.... If he does... It probably won't have any meaning.

I'm ready to move on from Romo.
