ESPN KC Joyner: Annual overrated player list...no 'boys

:D

An article that does not even mention Roy becomes a bash meeting for the Roy haters.

Awesome.

Don't forget that they also hired a coach that seems to be dedicated to improving Roy...

Re Driver...he Didnt Take Into Consideration The Doubleteams That Opened Things Up For The Other Guys When Mentioning They Had More Td's...when Looking At Stats You Have To Take That Into Consideration...same Thing On Seymour...if He Is Getting Doubled And Sometimes Tripled How Can You Compare Him To Another Who Only Gets Singled And Sometimes Doubled..he Should Have More Categories....

What is amusing is that Jerry Shockey is on that list, and look at the comments:

Take away his 12-catch, 129-yard game against Dallas in Week 10, and Shockey averaged 3.5 receptions and 38 yards in every other game in which he played.

So the over-rated Shockey had a career day against us, and performed better this year against us in both games, than previous years. But most people will say that wasn't Roy's fault, because Reeves happened to make a tackle.

It could just be that both blow in zone coverage.

I could live with Roy not being great in coverage if that was his only weakness.

But he's not the enforcer he once was in the running game, or when a WR ran a route over the middle and Roy would knock his head off.

For whatever reason, he's become a poor tackler. I really think the horse collars are a by-product of him taking bad angles.

Just to add...

If the consensus is that a player is overrated, then more than likely, the player is no longer rated high enough to be overrated. The player is now considered bad. Ergo, said player wouldn't be on a list of overrated players.

Wow. All of the Cowboys going to the Pro Bowl and not a single Cowboy player makes this list......How did we not go to the Super Bowl?

Do you even watch football? Randy Moss doesn't even get triple teamed, there is no way in hell Driver does. Especially considering Jennings seems to be a better reciever then Driver. Jennings had defenses much more scared then Driver all year long.

No, he's too busy capitalizing every word of every sentence he types to watch football.

The list only went to 8.

And it certainly helps your metrics when your coach is taking you off the field in situations where you could be exposed.
Actually, the way Roy is used actually hurts his metrics. Being in coverage from the linebacker position on passing downs means that he's in coverage on high percentage passes, which make his metrics look much worse as compared to being in coverage against low percentage deep passes.

I agree.

Everybody could tell Roy did not play well all year. And I think he should step it up. But watching other games all teams try to isolate the SS, its not just Roy.

That is right. The league is now one where tight ends are putting up record numbers and more and more wide receivers put up big numbers. The rules and enforcement of the rules that make it easier for offenses and more difficult for defenses.

Because once you factor in the overall mediocrity at the SS position throughout the NFL, Roy isn't nearly as bad as Cowboy fans think he is.
:hammer:

Interesting read, although I disagree with Driver being on the list.

I agree except for I sort of disagree with Dallas Clark. He's not as good as Witten, but given that he was banged up and had to play out of the slot more with Gonzalez learning and injuries to Harrison, he's a valuable player. He's not awful out of the slot, but it's not a strength of his either.

Surprised Asante Samuel isn't #1 on this list. I feel sorry for the franchise that breaks the bank on him this offseason. Just hope it isn't us. :(

I think the chances of us signing Samuel are somewhere between slim & none.

Not when we have to extend Newman's contract here shortly also.

I dunno.

I think you could Fasano at TE for the Colts and he'd put up good numbers in that offense. It's like hitting 3rd for the Yankees... you're going to get a lot of RBI's because of the strength of everyone else in the lineup.

fasano can't catch nearly as well as clark

You missed the point completely.

Let me rephrase it...

You can put just about any TE in that offense and they are going to ring-up the numbers.
