1. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys have three outside linebackers who can get after opposing quarterbacks and DeMarcus Ware is as good as it gets at the position. Ware can do it all with his rare blend of quickness off the ball, pure speed and ideal body type for the position. He sacked the quarterback 14 times last year, but his ability to stay with backs and tight ends in coverage is often overlooked and Ware is a Defensive Player of the Year candidate who keeps getting better. Greg Ellis returned from injury to have a very productive 2007 season while Anthony Spencer, last year's first-round pick, is going to be tough to keep of the field due to his ability to rush the quarterback. For now, though, Spencer is simply an exceptional No. 3 outside linebacker who could see time on throwing downs and make things very difficult on opposing protection schemes. Bradie James plays inside on the strong side and is a thumper who is always around the football. Zach Thomas came on board to finish his career at home in Texas and will play alongside James on the inside. Thomas played in a 3-4 alignment some in Miami and was very effective, and the transition to playing a 3-4 full-time should not be difficult for such a fundamentally-sound player. Dallas does not have much invested in Thomas so the risk is minimal, but if he can stay healthy it will be interesting to see how much he has left in the tank. Bobby Carpenter has yet to live up to his first-round selection and has shuffled from inside to outside, and while he does provide depth he needs to step up and become more of a contributor. Kevin Barnett is yet another talented young player who will find it hard to get on the field unless injuries intervene, which just goes to show how great this group is overall.

Can't wait to read Extemeskins after this one. :lmao2:

The #1 rule that I learned in my journalism class was to ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS spell names right

Kevin Barnett does not exist...what exactly do editors do?

Redskin1 will be here any minute to tell us to wake up!

And AmishGangsta will then post some stats from a fantasy football board showing how the Commander defense is dominate.

I think Dallas is #1 in outside linebackers. Ware, Ellis and Spencer are a good trio. Ware is arguably one of the best and few teams have a Spencer sitting on the bench.

I think they are lacking at the inside linebacker position. Zach Thomas is a question mark at this point. James is solid, but nothing else. Burnett is adequate in nickel. The inside linebackers have not been play makers in the Dallas 3-4 up to this point. They can win without them being play makers, but if they were ranking just inside linebackers then Dallas would be middle of the pack.

Another day, another ranking.

Haven't seen the full list, but I bet its pretty hard for a team that runs a 4-3 to rank high. Just like it is hard for a 3-4 to get credit in a line ranking.

All about the sacks, how typical.

:lmao: How True!.

I think journalists and their editors are far more lax when it comes to Internet writing. Once somebody finds this error, all they have to do is change it and no harm done. If a newspaper goes out with an error, you can't ever get those back.

Probably the same reason you see a decline in the accuracy of reports too. Let's face it, the Internet is a medium that promotes laziness.

If Owens gets hurt then this group will no longer be ranked #1.

this is outrageous, the dallas cowboys will be the biggest flops in nfl history..based on the hype put on this team this offseason, but dont worry i will be lurking around here at every step of the way..there is no way the cowboys live up to this hype..;)

I hope we're #1. We've spent 4 #1 picks and a very high #2 on LBs. (That's not including Zach Thomas or Brady James - I'm not sure where they were picked).

oh i forgot to say...WAKE UP PEOPLE!!

And this LB ranking doesn't even take into account Erik "Beast" Walden, our formidable 6th round draft pick. :D

Well put, and for the most part I don't mind it. But with a site like ESPN they have to be professional, and when they aren't it frustrates me.
