That was last year. Not a criticism of Scandrick but what he accomplished last year meant nothing. He had to go out and prove his worth all over again. Archer knows this but then again, he is Todd Archer: writer of crap.

This team needed a jolt -- a reminder that nothing stays the same -- and losing Scandrick may be it.
I disagree that the team needed a jolt, but I think that this will definitely make folks play or try that much harder.

Guys like Mo and Patmon are going to really bust their ***** now knowing that they have a shot to start. Realistically even though you work hard when you're a few rungs down on the depth chart, you know you're not going to start...this could change that and make the entire unit better.

Scandrick was and still is one of the best CBs to perform on our roster over the past several years. I don't understand the hatred but I chalk it up to pet hate. Just as I have my regular pet cats that I enjoy watching slightly more than others, there are those out there that just have to hate something.

That said, I share the feeling of those that like Patmon and think he can step in admirably. I've been really impressed with his ability to maximize his performance in limited opportunities to this point. I believe Patmon is up for the challenge and the media will eventually eat their words.

Any mention of Mo Claiborne stepping into that role loses all credibility here. Lame lame lame. How about we just let Mo take a few positive steps onto the field during an actual game without twisting a pinkie toe before we start talking about him making any differences this year.

Strange chain of events thus far to start the year. I need to see more normalcy out there.

Pet hate? I like that phrase. Gonna have to use it. :)

He was our best CB. Yeah, he was probably a better slot CB than outside CB but he was still our best outside CB.

It's a big loss. Does that mean the season is over? Of course note, but some here trying to act like we just lost our 5th string CB and that the media is wrong for thinking this is a big blow is hilarious.

Best as running with the wr's. Ok. But actually making plays on the ball and getting int's he isn't head and shoulders irreplaceable.

No one said he was a stud corner. But he was our best and most consistent CB, whether in the slot or outside.

It's a big loss.

I think the defense needed a jolt. They have Sean Lee and Lawrence back and added Hardy, Gregory and Jones. Now the reality sets in that they will go into the season without one of their best players from last year.

We're MUCH improved on the front seven. That alone will make this defense a lot better than last year's.

Mincey/McClain/Spencer -> Hardy
Hayden -> Hayden (lol)
Crawford -> Crawford
Selvie (lol) -> Lawrence

Plus possible contributions from guys like Mincey, McClain, Gardner, Bishop, J. Crawford, and a few others whose names escape me.

LBs we're getting Sean Lee back, and at the WLB spot -- key for his nose for INTs in the middle of the field. Hitchens is a year better, and Damien Wilson looks like a contributor...Hitchens-esque, if you will. Hopefully Ro. McClain comes back strong too, and we have Gachkar and others which are an improvement over last year's situational guys.

I like the way the starting unit looks. I'm looking forward to Week 1.

And being the best over the depth that we have isn't a big loss.

And most of the other CBs on this team will have to prove their worth for the first time.

It works both ways.

And the "depth" has proved to this point in time what exactly?

Anytime you loose your best player at a position it's a problem.

Only time will tell just how big.

Let me first say I hate the f***** preseason so much. And the loss OSki hurts. It hurts a lot and I won't get over it easy.

However, we have a season to play and injuries present opportunity. Guys step up in these situations and become the new backbones. So let's pray for a healthy return for the kid and let's put faith in our front office and staff to get this right and still move on to accomplish our goals this year. Nobody said it was gonna be easy.

I want to say this in a way and keep it in perspective. but im ok with this, not espn, dallas loses 1 player, its all over, but i think Rod works better with a less than steller defense than an all star defense, i think when he has to push and come up with something, i think he performs better. I think with hi having to compensate for the loss of Scandrick, hes going to get someone else to look better. Im hoping this is the case

Besides oscan being the best db. The other big loss is he is the dez of the defense. Plays with passion and gets on people. But I think hardy will be the same way.

Well it definitely weakens the defense.
Jones is a rookie, he may make plays and do good, but he will also make rookie mistakes and get beat.
Claiborne is a big ? mark as to how he will play.
Corey white I read was good in zone but not in man.
Carr has a broken hand ?

So I think teams will be more inclined to pass on dallas now, unless the pass rush is really good.

I think Scandrick was not paying attention, he should have seen him coming and got his feet off the ground.
Or not ran right into a guy going to the ground.

Scandrick had experience and made a lot of plays up around LOS or stopping a play in backfield.
He wasnt afraid to tackle like mo, so this is a big loss, but the show goes on , next man up is all they can do.
