Did anyone catch Jerry on the Normathon this morning? Great (and pretty lengthy) interview, but I caught it in the middle and my reception of the Ticket is kind of scratchy at times. But he was talking along these lines, and it might the strongest statement I've heard from him yet that he doesn't want to upset things. He said he doesn't want Tony Romo and others to have to go through a coaching change and possibly be set back.

I wish I'd heard all of it. I don't know if they podcast these Normathon things.

I heard most of it and Jerry does sound like he is placing a high value on continuity in the coaching ranks but Jerry spews so much crap, I never know what is ultimately true or false.

I got distracted when I starting seeing red and blacked out for a few moments because Jerry started blowing sunshine up my *** about how great Roy Williams is. When he says crap like this I want to hurt the man.

On a side note, why hasn't anyone come up with Tivo for internet and car radios? It sure woud be handy to be able top to record sound bites like these.

Jerry is big on continuity. And the way the D is playing lately, I don't see Wade going anywhere unless he loses in the first round.

Jerry wants the cowboys in next years super bowl in Dallas. I believe he thinks the best way to get this is to stay the course with Wade. The D is playing the way we all thought it would when Wade was hired. If we do any damage in the playoffs, Wade will be back.

What's up with your picture? I suppose there is something funny here or something, what am I missing?
I'm just saluting the innovation of our nation's college-youth. Sometimes it takes a little while to see.

Is it just the word "cum" or is there more to it than that?

Tebow and "hearts"... :laugh2:

Took me a minute to see it, too. Very nice, SP.

Good points.

However, I don't think changing Head Coaches after 3 Seasons can be seen as a "disruption".

I agree that Jerry Jones has learned that consistency in the Coaching Staff is the way to go, plus I believe he likes the current relationship he has with Wade Phillips.
It would be a disruption if you are breaking things up right when it starts getting good. Say we beat Philly but then lose against Philly in the first round of the playoffs.

I don't think Wade should be fired because it's almost impossible to beat a team, especially a good one, three times in a row. And this team has finally come together and played for each other, which may or may not stem from Wade. But bringing in another big time personality at this moment would do more harm than good IMO.

As I've said before, I'll say again. All this talk about "Get rid of Wade" or "Wade must stay" will be resolved in the upcoming weeks.

If Wade gets this team to the Super Bowl, he's back. As much as talent is a recipe for a Super Bowl appearance, coaching is also. Wade will prove whether he's worthy to return in the upcoming weeks.

If he's worthy to be canned, well, we'll see that too.

I just want the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl. If Wade accomplishes that, he can stay around for a few more years as far as I'm concerned.

If we can't get there or at least to the NFC Championship, find a new leader for the team.

My thoughts exactly.

I agree with most of what you wrote.

However, given the level of talent on this team, especially at Quarterback, I just don't know how you justify not winning a Playoff Game in 3 years, which would be the case with the scenario you mentioned.

I believe Wade Phillips has to win a Playoff Game to keep his job.

I agree.

However, how do you fire a Head Coach who is 15 games over .500 in 3 Regular Seasons and gets you to the Divisional Round of the Playoffs?

Can you imagine how quick the fans would turn on Jerry Jones and the new Head Coach, if he fired Wade Phillips after getting to the Divisional Game then the new Head Coach doesn't win a Playoff game the following season?
To me, it all depends on the plan.

If the plan is to replace Phillips with Garrett, I would as soon have him back that go that direction because it is highly unlikely Garrett will be able to secure a defensive coordinator as effective. It is a simple cost analysis. We would not gain much in a head coach and there would be a drain on the defense which honestly is the unit performing at the most consistent clip right now.

Agreed.

However, if Jerry Jones the GM has decided that Garrett is the next Head Coach, I would rather Jerry Jones go ahead and make the move.

I hate "Coaches in waiting".

We're a game away from winning the toughest division in football, and we're discussing whether or not we should be firing our coach. What other NFL cities does this happen in?

None. Not even New York. It's bizarre.

I have a feeling if the Boys beat Philly next week and win the East, Wade comes back regardless of what happens in the playoffs. To be honest if Wade leaving means Garrett is the next HC I would rather Wade stays. Especially if that means Garrett would accept a HC spot for another team.

No kidding. The whole discussion is just surreal. This talk belongs in Chicago and Washington and Seattle -- not here.

I must agree. I thought Wade was too soft, but I must admit he has changed my thinking by the way the team is playing right now. I still don't think Garrett is anything special.

If wades d stands up to the end of season, I want him to stay even if we lose the play off game in a close battle - huge progress would have been made

If they get trashed a la philly last year he will have to go

Absolutely! I think he has done wonders with the D. If a change is made it should be at OC. 4 straight runs up the middle on 4-short on two seperate series. Combined with the same at the goal line last week worries me about Garretts play calling. Don't get me wrong he has his moments. But too many times he leaves you scratching your head wondering what he was thinking.
