If your Romo there really is no incentive to throw to Roy right now when you have Austin and Witten to throw to. Austin must be so fun to throw to as he's a touchdown waiting to happen, and you know Witten is always going to be open and catch the ball.

If I were Romo I wouldn't even want to look Roy's way unless I'm under pressure and he's in my field of view and the only option. Because quite frankly I would have no confidence in throwing to him as he is more then likely going to either drop the ball or mess up his route.

Tony will continue to throw to RW he just needs to make the catch. The more plays RW makes the more trust that will develop. Much too early in the season to be giving up on players. 2 weeks ago some were giving up on Romo.

As Romo said yesterday. "I'm a firm believer that if a guy shows me on a consistent daily basis out here on the practice field that he can do it, he's going to do it in the game," Romo said. "Sure, people are going to have games that aren't whatever they may feel up to their own standards, but that's each individual wanting to be competitive within himself.

"Roy works his butt off at practice. He comes out and he performs out there daily and I don't see any reason why he's not going to have a very successful rest of the season.

"I'm not going to shy away because he shows me on a consistent daily basis that he does so many good things. It'll happen."

It's amazing to me how much a pass romo gets in this equation. According to the stats Williams has dropped 3 passes 2 of those were in one game. Roy admitted he played crappy. However he now has a reputation of dropping passes? Romo on the other hand has missed Williams repeatedly and quite honestly very badly on more than 3 occasions and not only roy; others as well and yet Romo is the ok one?

They both need a lot of work. As teams start to gameplan for Austin, Williams will need to become more of an option for Tony.
Otherwise will see this team fold
once again late in the year.

The way I see it, Tony is in a catch 22. On one hand he is being asked to trust RW to make the play while being covered and on the other hand he is being told he needs to cut down on the turn overs which usually comes from throwing into coverage. I suspect a lack of trust from Romo causes him to choose the more conservative throw in that situation. JMO.

Has anyone seen where if practices have changed and Romo has become happier with the practice habits of the team?

I know he has repeatedly said he was uncomfortable with the different of speed and pace of practice versus the games and that it made it harder to know where the receivers would be...

We have found an explosive receiver, and we just came off the best offensive performance all year. We're clicking.

The last thing I want Romo to do is force the ball to Roy. The numbers will come for Roy eventually during the season. It's not like he's going to have every game be 2 catches for 16 yards. He'll have a good 3-4 breakout games of 100+ yards and a few TD's.

I'm not worried about Roy not getting his. We've been moving the ball all season, and now hopefully we can start clicking in the red zone. Let Roy and Romo natrually work it out over the season, and if he remains our #2, he remains our #2.

Personally I could care less. Austin has proved many doubters wrong (myself included) that he can play. Not to that level every night, but he can make some explosive plays.

That will open everything up, and let Witten be Witten again, which has always been our bread and butter offense. I dont care what the TO lovers have to say, he made our offense go in 07.

But as far as Roy being covered and them having to learn each other, by all means, keep doing what you're doing, and eventually Roy will get open and have big days. Because Witten and now Miles have proven that they can make plays, and dont even get me started on our backs. Bring it.

After all that bambling I guess I'm just saying I think all of us as fans are making way too big of a deal about this Roy Williams situation. Just let the guy play and do his thing. Now that Miles has proven to be accounted for, he'll get his. I just could care less in what order down the receiving line he is as long as we move the ball and win games.

4-2 isn't perfect, but if we keep playing offense like we've recently showed or near that level (which is not too hard to imagine due to Austin) he'll get his and we'll continue to win ball games.

And thats the only thing that matters with this team.

I agree.

It is ridiculously unfair for Romo to "have to learn to trust" that Williams will come down with it. He has interceptions, he's the one who pays for it. Rarely do poor routes get pointed out as the culprit for turnovers. It usually gets chalked up to a poor decision or throw by the QB.

I don't think Romo has to worry about Williams until teams start making him have to look his way more by rolling bodies at Austin and Witten. Until that happens then worry about it.

If he starts forcing the balls and Williams simply isn't open, that is going to cause problems. The fact is, management is feeling the pressure for Williams' mediocrity, but it is completely unfair to expect Romo to ignore open receivers and force the ball to keep someone happy. We just got rid of Owens for that very reason.

If him getting statistics is such a big deal, get with Garrett. Have him call more bubble screens and quick slants to get him the ball.

Then to make matters worse, if the guy appears to be covered, and the QB throws it anyway, the QB has to fight to urge to be too perfect with the throw. I think that's where you get skipped passes and/or overthrows... or even the floated touch pass we saw last week. Romo will have to develop trust that Roy will go get the ball even if it's not a perfect pass.

The only way that can happen is for Williams to demonstrate that he will do it, which he hasn't yet done. Maybe it will happen. Hope so.

We should learn that when the team tells us a given player or unit is producing in practice, working hard, and that they'll eventually deliver in games, they typically do.

RW likely won't be a superstar for us, but he will have multiple big games for us that directly contribute to wins before the season is over.

I dont think there's as big a "problem" as many continue to insist, but it isnt just on RW either. There's been times Williams was open and the ball thrown to him was poor, such as the 2nd slant pass where RW was wide open and Romo threw it into the ground at his feet vs Atlanta the other day. The Denver game comes to mind too. There's also been plays where he was open, but the ball didnt come his way.

He does need to catch the ball when its in his hands though.

When Romo does go his way 1/3 of the time it's over thrown, short or behind him. Romo needs to trust him the way Brady trusts Moss or the was Warner trust Fitz.
I still have faith that this can happen!

BP used to say the same thing all the time about throwing the ball of Keyshawn. However, one thing I remember is that while Key won most of the battles, a fair number of those passes ended up being intercepted.

I'm sure the media and fans will be completely understanding if Romo throws it to a covered Williams and the pass is picked off.


Jerry is looking stupid for overpaying for Roy, therefore the imperative is on Romo to force the ball to him even when we already have the #2 offense in the NFL with Romo going elsewhere with the football. Because football games are won and lost on who has the most gaudy WR numbers.

Beacuse he is not too fast and may be lazy with the confidence , he can use the body to shield and catch. Who knows ?

We are still not scoring in the red-zone. Againt Atlanta, Dallas was 1-3 and the TD which was scored was because of Romo keeping a play alive with his feet. If he took the sack, which it was pretty much a given for any other QB, it would have been half-time.

Roy Williams is a central piece to this puzzle.

RoyW shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Fitz and Boldin (and forget about Moss) - both are much better players then Mr. Excuses.
