ESPN's Sal Paolantonio believes Donovan McNabb is entering the 2007 season as a "lame duck" quarterback.

Paolantonio called the Eagles and McNabb's relationship "strained" and says he needs to put in a 16-game season if he hopes to remain with the team beyond this year. The real QB controversy could begin in 2008.

Hard to believe it could be splitsville for those two. But I wouldn't shed a tear.

Not hard to believe at all. What IS hard to believe is that the Eagles waited SO long to make a move.

McNabb can be good at times but that is his ceiling. He cant get it done. He wont get it done with Eagles.

The next SB wont be a "Finally won the big one" for Eagles or McNabb... not like the last two have been "Finally for Steelers and Manning"

T.O. didn't do nothing, McNabb's racist comment was the worst thing in th whole T.O. vs McNabb siuation (which McNabb started with what he said to T.O. in the huddle of the Giants game).

ok I will admit T.O. was a big part of that thing - he did do something lol but McNabb was worse.

Michael Irvin said to T.O. that he thought the Eagles would have won the SB if Brett Favre had been the QB and T.O. replied "I agree". McNabb then said in a public interview "I mean he couldn't have said Vick or Culpepper were better than me, he had to slap me right in my face and say a white guy was better" - that is racist to both black and white.

I suppose the same could be said about Julius Jones at RB.

Not if-
1) He stays healthy again.
2) He runs his arse off ala rookie year.
3) Cleveland wins 10 games.

I'm sure the red light signals are flashing in at Eagles HQ. They're not going to tolerate another injury-lost season. If so, I'm sure he's gone in 2008.

I think this has more to do with McNabb then it does the Eagles. If it the Eagles management then there would have been a bigger push to keep Garcia for another year because they knew they would be focused on drafting a QB.

The thing is, who will want to take on the last six or so years of Mcnabbs' huge contract? Teams aren't exactly looking for another Dante Culpepper; we saw how that worked out.... and Dante wasn't even injury-prone like Mcnabb is,and if the Eagles released him, they would take a monstrous cap hit. This is going to be really interesting if he gets injured again or if he doesn't play well. I hear the horns of Minnesota calling, 'eh? They might want him if T. Jackson stinks up the joint to reunite with B. Childress.

i think he's only signed through 2009. 2 years is not as harsh.

Per Len Pasquareli, It was as follows... "ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli has confirmed it is a 12-year deal worth $115 million, giving the 25-year-old McNabb the biggest contract in NFL history"

This was back in 2002 I believe. That means his contract runs until 2014. Wow. It is worse than I thought.

http://www.addictsports.com/baseball/archive/index.php/t-13465.html (Mcnabb article about contract)

However, Mcnabb can void the last three years of his contract should he decide to do so.
