Per Len Pasquareli, It was as follows... "ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli has confirmed it is a 12-year deal worth $115 million, giving the 25-year-old McNabb the biggest contract in NFL history"

This was back in 2002 I believe. That means his contract runs until 2014. Wow. It is worse than I thought.

http://www.addictsports.com/baseball/archive/index.php/t-13465.html (Mcnabb article about contract)

However, Mcnabb can void the last three years of his contract should he decide to do so.

well alrighty then. :laugh2:

I hope old Danny Boy in our nations capital takes his contract haha... Then he would have to mobile quarterbacks with rocket arms and no REAL team to speak of. Then Charles Mann and Brian Mitchell of the Commanders will declare this team to be the best in the league. This is the way it goes 'round the nations capitol. *urghhh.....*

The Eagles were stuck in mediocrity before McNugget was there and they would definitely stink without him..

The drafting of Kolb does spell the beginning of the end for McNabb, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been a good QB. McNabb has been the best QB in the NFC east hands down for a number of years (until last season). Would any of you have hesitated in trading McNabb straight up for any of the parade of yahoos the Cowboys trotted out there before Romo? Even last season, there were a couple of games he carried the Eagles and became virtually the entire offense on his own. The game in Tampa Bay comes to mind (It wasn't enough, the Eagles lost that game due to two Rhonde Barber interceptions and an incredibly long field goal to close out the game).

McNabb hasn't won the big one and now he's getting plagued by injuries. The Eagles will come out of the gate as the favorite to win the East so they aren't giving up on him as of yet. If Kolb really comes on, we might have a QB controversy as early as next season in Philly.

We'll see.

Its been more our mistakes then great plays on McFlabbs part. the only time was in 2004 in that infamous play where Laroi and Ellis chased him all over the place and he still made the throw. He does not do that much anymore. He usually gets very good protection and that is the key. His mobility is not what it once was.

This is stepping on lots of toes, but last I looked the Eagles had won the NFC East. When we beat them we can call them washed up. Until then it all sounds like false bravado. When McNabb fails to beat us then we can tell him he's washed up. We did finally beat them once last year but failed miserably when we had to beat them. Granted McNabb wasn't the QB. The Eagles are NFC East champs and that counts.

I agree he hasn't won the big one. He is injured too often. That doesn't make the Cowboys better than the Eagles. That doesn't make Romo better than McNabb. When we beat them for the NFC East Championship we can crow all we want and have it mean something. Until then all this stuff is chest puffing and plummage show.

Philadelphia Eagles' Kevin Kolb: When Will He Start?
Posted May 5th 2007 10:44AM by Michael David Smith
Filed under: Eagles, NFL Draft, Philadelphia, Featured Stories

A regular look at when we can expect to see the 2007 rookie quarterback class on the field.

He'll start right away if: A calamity befalls the entire Eagles' depth chart at quarterback, with Donovan McNabb, A.J. Feeley and Kelly Holcomb all unable to play. Andy Reid wouldn't have used his first pick on Kolb if he didn't expect him to start some day, but that day will not come in 2007.

He'll hold the clipboard if: The Eagles are anything short of abysmal in 2007. The only way he could drop the clipboard and put on the helmet is if McNabb gets hurt and they're mathematically eliminated by December.

Most likely scenario: Kolb will show promise in the preseason but also make typical rookie mistakes. The first time McNabb has a bad game, some fickle Philly fans will remember the promise, forget the rookie mistakes, and call for Kolb. Reid will wisely ignore them.

Projected first start: Mid-season 2008. This year Kolb will be the third-stringer. Next year he'll be promoted to second-string, and McNabb will get hurt at some point, giving Kolb the starting job. If he's as good as some folks think he is, he might never relinquish it.

A true west-coast qb in this division would kill all of the other teams. Which is why I am glad the Eagles got Kolb instead of Stanton. (kolb worked in the shotgun almost exclusively in high scholl and college, pretty much running identical offenses, west coast offenses rarely if EVER use the shotgun) However, the Eagles are a much better team when Garcia played because he was so accurate that they controlled time of posession. Mcnabb tends to hold onto the ball until the last second becasue he knows his arm is strong enough to get the ball to the reciever lighthing-fast, but that also means the reciever is often going to break his hands trying to catch the ball and drops the pass. Mcnabb scared me because of his mobility and arm, and Kolb scares me because he seems to have a decent head on his shoulders and he will be more of a nuisance than Mcnabb I think. Mcnabb is a lame duck this year, but he knows he won't be traded; his contract is too huge as he still has seven years left on his 115 million dollar deal. It's funny that this guy ressurected the Eagles, and now he might be looking at total alienation in the next couple if Kolb comes in to play for him.

This was published on ESPN?

The Eagles ditching a proven elite quarterback in his prime for some random second round pick? The Eagles are up there with the Pats, Colts, & Broncos as one of the best organizations in football. They aren't that stupid.

I'd love to see this as much as the next Cowboy fan but either ESPN or Philadelphia is crazy, and I don't think it's Philly.
