ESPN Mosley: Commish on Tank Johnson

he isn't going to be in playing shape anyway you cut it regardless of when he comes back, it will be probably two games before we know what he is gonna be for us. I am pulling for the reduction for obvious reasons.
He'll be in fine shape as he's been working out at VR. Regardless, he's not going to start immediately, in shape or not. He'll just be a rotational guy for probably the remainder of the season (barring injury on the DL), so he doesn't have to be in the best of shape.

I'd also understand if the Commish doesn't reduce it at all though. Tank did get pulled over for speeding (and suspicion of DWI) after he told the Commish he'd be the man of the year.

Do you know how hard it is not to speed? I have been pulled over 3 different occasions going 40 mph. I was like WHAT? The cop is like..

"Yes sir - this has been a construction zone for the past couple of days."

"What is the speed limit then?"

Cop: "35MPH"

I just want Tank down the stretch. We are going to need him for the tough stretch of NFC East games, especially at NYG

I agree

I really think his main contribution will be in the nickel defense when we go to the 4 man line...he'll be one of the DT's, probably next to Ratliff, Bowen or even Ellis in some situations...and he'll spell Ratliff a series or two a game at NT

I don't think Tank will get his suspension reduced, if it happens it will be a pleasent surprise.

It doesn't matter what the "commish" does, he's a 2 faced fraud as far as I'm concerned.

He can lift at VR all he wants, it won't put him in football shape. It WILL help, but it's not the same.

I agree, bringing him along slowly (rotations) is our best bet. Hopefully by the end of the season he'll be able to handle enough NG snaps to allow Ratliff to be fresh for our nickel D snaps. Our pass rush could really use a fresh Ratliff.

I hear ya. Especially in ALaska. My mother, aunt, and uncle have all had their licenses suspended in that state. :laugh2:

Of course my aunt and uncle were drinking heavily at the time so it's understandable. The cops in Alaska are very anal.

Myself? I've had about 10 speeding tickets or so over the years. The last few years I just don't feel the need to speed as much, sometimes even going lower then the speed limit.

I am, however, restoring a muscle car so that'll change... some day. :(

He's referring to the Commish, not Tank, Genius.

to help compensate for all the "this player is a bust" talk, hopefully we can get tank back after new england and see what he can do.

-----
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will review next week whether to reduce Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Tank Johnson's suspension from eight to six games.

"I did talk to Tank about a week ago and I'm going to be reviewing his case shortly," Goodell said Monday. "He has been doing some very positive things about changing his life and making better decisions going forward."

Goodell said he plans to begin his review next week, but did not hint which way he might be leaning.

"I'm not leaning anywhere," Goodell said before attending the Bills' Monday night game against the Dallas Cowboys. "I want to look at the facts and monitor and understand where we're going."

Johnson, who signed a two-year contract with the Cowboys last month, is serving an eight-game NFL suspension for violating probation on a gun charge, one of several run-ins with the law that led the Chicago Bears to release him in June.

Goodell has previously said he'd consider reducing the player's suspension to six games. If that happened, Johnson would be eligible to play with the Cowboys after Dallas hosts New England this weekend.

Johnson has been working out at the Cowboys facility, and has been in regular contact with Goodell.

"I've made it very clear to Tank that, 'You could say all the things you want. It's how you act,"' Goodell said. "He needs to make better decisions. And he needs to demonstrate that through his behavior. And I think he understands that. And I'm hopeful he's going to do that."

"We all make mistakes," Goodell added. "And now he can be someone that really demonstrates to people that you can make a turnaround in your life. You can do things right."
Goodell provided no update on the uncertain status of Broncos running back Travis Henry, who played Sunday, and is attempting to prevent the league from suspending him over the result of a drug test result.

"I got an update on Friday afternoon. I've got to talk to our people a little bit more about where we are with that," Goodell said. "But we'll be dealing with it on a timely basis."

sorry - all the stanback sucks threads were throwing me off.

I would be willing to place a 50 spot that Goodell reduces it to a 6 game deal. Having lunch with Jerra and Jerra Jr. is why this will happen! ;)

Jerra can talk you in circles if you don't watch out...

Best owner in sports, period!

How does that not make him man of the year? He did NOTHING wrong. I know it doesn't matter what I think, but I think it'd be complete bias to not let him come back. Especially after the whole patriot-gate, which was complete and utter BS.
