Haynesworth

1. Albert Haynesworth, Commanders DT:

Sorry, but when you make $41 million guaranteed, one tackle for a loss doesn't cut it. Haynesworth is supposed to be a disruptive force in the middle of the defense but for the most part, Giants guard Rich Seubert did a nice job on him. I just kept watching Haynesworth limp off the field. Not a great debut.

2. The Giants' third-and-short offense: Whether it was third-and-1 or fourth-and-1, the Giants didn't have any answers. They were stuffed inside the 5-yard line on fourth-and-1, which gave the Commanders a brief glimmer of hope in the first half. With a strong line and an excellent fullback in Madison Hedgecock, the Giants have to do a better job.

3. Anthony Spencer, Cowboys, DE:

Spencer
It's not like Byron Leftwich is the toughest guy in the world to sack. The Cowboys didn't sack him once. DeMarcus Ware was banged up early in the game and Spencer needed to step forward. He also let the Bucs run right at him. Not that strong of a debut for the former first-round pick. He has to lift his game against the Giants next Sunday night.

Rising

1. Patrick Crayton, Cowboys, WR:
5741.jpg
Crayton
Everyone in Dallas has tried to demote Crayton based on his anemic numbers in 2008, but he got off to a strong start with four catches for 135 yards. The Bucs busted coverage on Crayton's 80-yard touchdown catch, but no one came close to catching him. So far, so good in the post-T.O. era. Tony Romo had a strong second half and Crayton played a large role in that.

2. Osi Umenyiora, Giants, DE:
4514.jpg
Umenyiora
In his first game back since missing the 2008 season with a knee injury, Umenyiora was outstanding. His sack and fumble recovery for a touchdown in the second quarter effectively put the Commanders away. Umenyiora gives this team so much more versatility. Umenyiora and Justin Tuck form one of the most talented pass rushing duos in the league.

3. Sheldon Brown, Eagles, CB:
3587.jpg
Brown
This one could go to the entire Eagles' defense after causing seven turnovers in a 38-10 win over the Panthers. It was a dominating performance all around. Brown may have whined in the offseason, but he was superb on the field Sunday. He's a gamer and we were too quick to dismiss him once Ellis Hobbs arrived. Could someone remind me why the Panthers thought it was a good idea to re-sign Jake Delhomme?

Wait, how can the Giants' power offense vs. the Commanders AND Haynesworth both have falling stock?

Mosely needs to realize that DTs don't make their contributions known through tackle stats.

I haven't got to see much of the game yet, but most on this board that I've read said that Spencer had a solid game.

If big Ben completes that pass it's cause of his godly pump fake when Romo does the same it's cause of blown coverage :laugh2:

A good chunk of the time, Haynesworth wasn't even on the field. He either got winded or injured.

did Mosley watch the game? Don't have the stats in front of me, but I would not be shocked if Spencer had the most QB pressures.

I read one of his articles that he said he was at the Giants game and saw it on a tv in the press box. I doubt he saw it all.

He took a solid blow on the 4th down stuff near the goal line. Great play by him on that, but he did end up sitting out a lot after that play.

Haynesworth looks out of shape and acts like he really doesn't enjoy football. I think most of those plays he was out was more for a rest than anything.

But there were also times when he completely overwhelmed the interior of the Giants' OL. He could be scary good if he had a motor like Laroi Glover had. Virtually unstoppable.

He was that way in Knoxville, he was that way in Nashville. That's the guy he was Sunday. He's a great talent, but you have to resign yourself to the fact that he's only going to put that talent to work half the time, if you're lucky.

The Giants kept running away from Hanyesworth. I'm not sure what they were expecting him to do. Plus, he made out like Rich Seubert was facing Haynesworth all alone. Haynesworth was dominating his part of the line of scrimmage. Mosley was just looking at the stat book and making a statement. Funny considering he was AT the game.

I agree though that Haynesworth spent to much time on the sideline.

So true and it will not end til the kid wins a SB! Play-off win will help but not much.

Everytime someone has a chance to, they will qualify any positive statement they make or positive achievment they report on Romo.

Can't wait til next Monday.
"Sure Romo lit up the Giants for 3 TD's, but how good are the Giants. Do we really know how good anyone is this early? And they did finish weak last year. Come to think of it, a true MVP candidate would've had 4 TD's against that defense.":bang2:

Or better yet.

Sure Romo threw 87 TDs in a single game against the #1 ranked defense, but all that really tells us is how bad defense in the NFL actually is!

I dont know what game he was watching but...

I thought Haynesworth had a very good game.....its not always about stats....especially for a DT. I thought he caused problems for the Giants and they accounted for him. The other players needed to step up.

I don't usually write columnists because they probably don't read half their email. But I couldn't restrain myself on this one.
