A logjam at wideout? It's nice to have these sorts of problems.

Agreed.

I can't believe the number of people expecting Roy Williams to get demoted to #4 or below.

I certainly don't expect that to be the case, although if he plays like last year I certainly HOPE that is the case.

...at least these people are basing their opinion on evidence of play, rather than "talent" and "potential" from a 7 year veteran. The "if he plays to his potential" excuse is REALLY old. Just friggin' do it.

bingo. its putting the cart before the horse. in the offseason and in OTAs everyone is great. they are all future HOFers.

lets wait and seee

And sometimes they're just as good as advertised.

I don't understand why it's presumptuous to think that Dez Bryant can have a solid contribution as a rookie.

Plenty of receivers with less talent did just that last season.

And Ogletree made a solid contribution last season despite being and undrafted free agent and being low on the depth chart and should only improve on that this year.

Something about him reminds me of Terry Glenn. Not sure if his route running or size or what but I see a young Terry Glenn evertme I see Ogletree make a play.
He has about 3-4 inches on Glenn.

I am so juiced about this year! I wish we could get the season started yesterday and see our Cowboys crush the Iggles, Jints, Foreskins, and whichever team stupid enough to step on the same field with us!

ARLINGTON, Texas -- With the arrival of Dez Bryant and the absence of Patrick Crayton, Cowboys wide receiver Kevin Ogletree has sort of flown under the radar this offseason. And that's not necessarily a bad thing.

At this time last season, owner Jerry Jones was telling anyone who'd listen that Miles Austin had the potential to replace Terrell Owens' production in the offense. And as you all know, Austin made Jones look smart (and saved the owner's rear) when he blossomed into a Pro Bowl receiver in '09. Now, Ogletree's trying to follow the footsteps of Austin, who was also an undrafted rookie.

Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com has a nice feature on Ogletree today. The former Virginia standout is shadowing Austin on and off the field, which seems like a good idea. And he's caught the eye of Jones, the club's hyperbole coordinator.
"I see a really focused player that is being called upon to play every position out there," Jones said. "They are asking him to do everything there is at receiver -- Slot, X, Y -- and that is impressive. Boy, is he up to the challenge.

"He's having to concentrate and having to work. After his first about 120 days here, there was no question about his speed, his quickness, his athletic ability and his instincts. He's got it, but if he'll carry it through and focus and be more consistent ... then he's got a chance to be a real player."
It's hard to tell much about an OTA session, but you see that Tony Romo and Ogletree have some nice chemistry. Ogletree's perfected the little smoke screen that allows him to use his speed to gain big yardage after the catch. Now, he's working on catching the ball in traffic 20 yards downfield. If the season started today, Austin and Roy Williams would start, Bryant would be the third receiver and Ogletree would be No. 4. But I think there's a chance that Ogletree could move into the No. 3 spot during the season.

Especially if Williams plays like he did last season.

and there is why Patrick Crayton is probably not going to be a cowboy, not because of roy williams like ben n skin keep crying about on the radio, because of Kevin Ogletree.

Go read ourlads breakdown of him in their draft guide. he has all the tools.

That is why I dont get involved in the roy williams talk, nor do I understand the crayton should play over williams stuff.

If things are going as planned this year, austin, bryant and ogletree will be the guys this team leans on.

We have gone from the 2nd half of the carolina game with williams, crayton, witten and choice on the field and looking old and slow to now having the options of Dez Bryant, Miles Austin and Kevin Ogletree with felix mixed in.

We are extremely athletic and fast. We hopefully will stay healthy and see some huge results.

Putting all this on Ogletree is a bit premature for a guy who has more fingers than NFL catches. I wouldn't say Ogletree's in the top 3 if all goes as planned, I would say more if all goes as hoped.

...and I think he's probably referring more to their style of play.

Ogletree has that one key element to his game that I've been begging for for years now. Quickness.

His hands, speed, size, and apparent ability to make a play when his number is called dont' hurt, either.

I'm glad he didn't get away, and he's the primary reason I don't care whether or not Crayton or Williams are 86ed.

He should. At some point he's gotta stop getting a
pass based on prouction from 4+ seasons ago

Nope, Terry Glenn was 5-9 (rosters lie sometimes) and change. Ogletree is 6-0 1/2.

Mannnnnnnn I can't wait to see this guy on the field in 2010. He was one of my favorites last year and I said he'd make the team!

this year we will see rw11 but it wont be long before he is gone also which is why crayton's crying makes zero sense.

basically what he is saying is keep me one more year and pay rw11 9 mil to play somewhere else.

I agree. All he has to do is look at waht Roy W. did last year and know there is going to be playing time available. Roy is going to get a chance early but the team isn't going to be as forgiving this year and Roy will lose chances quickly.

Yeah I understand that, I just think that the reason the crayton williams things are really not that big a deal is because, ogletree is going to get on the field and play and I think he is going to be pretty good.

Just my opinion But I think its ogletree that is shoving crayton to the side.

Ok, if you say so. Seems weird that every list I've ever seen with his height has him listed at 5'11" though. Buncha liars!

I dont view that way at all. He has been here for a year, he played a role in the biggest games of the season, he will return kicks.

he is going to be on the field. His number of catches to me doesnt mean anything.

Its just like how I viewed austin before last year, I saw a guy in the stadium with superior ability running free all over the place but was never thrown the ball.

I think ogletree has some terrific skills and I think he showed them late in the year. He should have had a 50 yard touchdown against the eagles but romo missed him by a hair, but he abused samuel and ran right past him.

And the thing ogletree has that austin and crayton also share is the confidence of Tony Romo.

Babe Laufenberg thought Ogletree should have replaced williams as the starter late last year and he continually relayed information he was given about him from the staff. They are pretty high on the guy.

I cant wait to see those three on the field together with felix. We now have more athletes outside to go with felix and One of the most athletic left sides of the offensive line in the league.

I think we are in for some fun watching that group at wr.

I don't think so because no matter how much everyone has fallen in love with Ogletree on this board he is still an unproven guy and Crayton is proven and the Cowboys would want to keep Crayton around as insurance. I'm not talking down Ogletree because I like his potential too, but I think too many people are putting way more on him than his play has proven he can do yet. I think if Crayton were here competing Hurd would be more the odd guy out than Crayton because noboyd thinks he really is going to play much of a role as a WR.

2010
WR - Miles
WR - Dez
WR - Roy

with Ogletree

2011

WR - Miles
WR - Dez
WR - Ogletree

with Ryan

dont confuse what I am saying, I like and have always liked crayton. He has been a very good player for us.

however, he is expensive, older and does not seperate.

Ogletree is younger, faster, plays special teams also and cheaper.

Again. I dont care about ogletree's stats. These guys just havent done anything until they do it. I think when we get to the season he will be one of the guys who can do it.

We see it happen all the time around the league at wr and running back.

The biggest factor to me is how much it appears romo likes him.

For as little as ogletree played we saw him get open deep, make a terrific catch on the sideline, catch a ball short and make guys miss and return kicks.

Now to me it is just a matter of opportunity.

Wonder if Pittsburgh feel that way after the catch from Santonio Holmes? :pc:
