ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, on the “Mike and Mike” radio show this morning, January 14, 2016.

TIDBIT by Tommy Bennett:

Dallas is a smart destination because the pressure to perform won’t be quite as intense. He won’t be thrust into a starting role, like so many other young quarterbacks are, and he’ll have a chance to develop behind long-time starting QB Tony Romo. Don’t forget, Manziel just turned 23 a month ago.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has shown a penchant for accepting players with baggage onto his teams. Wide receiver Terrell Owens always demanded attention, and more recently, defensive end Greg Hardy has had his fair share of off-field issues.

For the Cowboys, this would be a low-risk, high-reward move. According to Schefter, they would most likely only give up a conditional fifth-round pick for Manziel. It’s clear that “Johnny Football” knows how to play quarterback, evidenced by his two spectacular seasons at Texas A&M.

For Manziel to succeed, he needs to be in the right situation. And as of now, the Dallas Cowboys appear to be the only realistic situation.

I'd rather get RG3, but I'd rather take Manziel over taking a QB with the number 4 pick.

I wouldn't be opposed to getting a guy in the second round, but if we're still counting on Romo being the starter, then I'd rather us take an impact player with our #4 pick who can come in and make an immediate impact (TREADWELL PLS)

I'm all for the idea, I just hope we take a QB no later than round 3

If JFF becomes a Cowboy......I'm done.

No........seriously.

That's the straw that will break the camals back. There will be an epic burning of all Cowboys gear come that day in Boise, Idaho.

I couldn't be more serious. o_O

Why? We already know that RG can't play, we don't know about JFB yet. He still has potential, although more baggage too

Do we? Johnny Football can't even hold a starting job due to mediocre play while he's on the field and issues off the field.

As for Robert Griffin, he had one really good season in this league and injury plagued since. He didn't play terribly in 2014 in a pro style offense. Is he a starter? No. A good backup? I'd say he ranks highly on the list.

Just go with RG3. Manziel's problems won't be fixed any time soon.

RG3 in done. He is a locker room problem and he can't pass in the pocket. Johnny does have the chance to turn things around. He is just a kid at this point in his career with plenty of upside.

Manziel will be 24, Griffin will be 26; Griffin had issues with his head coach and said things the media blew up in interviews. Manziel has a drinking problem, has been to rehab, and can't stay away from the party scene during the season. We're talking about Griffin being the problem?

And again, we have seen one season with Griffin under center in a pro style offense. He's about as unknown as Manziel at this point.

Manziel coming to Dallas knowing he will be riding the bench and that it's likely his only chance to get it together doesn't bother me.

I want absolutely no part of RGIII. When he has actually been healthy enough to play the last two season, it's been some of the ugliest quarter backing I have ever seen. Let's not ignore the fact that we would be backing up our QB, whom many consider injury prone now, with a guy even more injury prone... No thank you.

Frankly I think it's laughable that people are going to call out Manziel's character and absolutely ignore Griffin's.

why trade for him if they are going to release him anyway?
Because you still get him on that rookie deal and who knows what would happen on the open market. If you want him, a 5th rounder is a very small price to pay.

Why because that means the moore experience is over?
