ESPN: No surprises when ranking the top QBs in the NFL (Romo #6)

Meh. It is what it is. I would take Romo over every QB in the league not named Brady or Peyton Manning, honestly.

I think Palmer is a very very good QB but lets be fair, as someone pointed out earlier, he's getting a pass for things that Romo is being downgraded for.

Palmer has yet to win a playoff game in his career. Granted he was knocked out early in the only one he's been in but that again tells me Romo is better. Palmer has been starting much longer and has led his team, with two of the better WR's in the game at his disposal, to 1 playoff appearance.

Romo has been starting a year and a half, and has TO, one of the best WR's in the game, and a bunch of guys who'd be no more than a #2 on any team in the NFL, pretty much (And this coming from a guy who actually does like Crayton), and yet he's lead the Cowboys to the playoffs both years.

Yeah I'll certainly take Romo over Palmer any day. I'd take him over Ben as well cause Ben hasn't been nearly as good, though I still think he's quite good, since the running game slid down hill after the retirement of The Bus. Parker is a very good back, and their running game is still very good, but it's not the grind it out, control the game, running game it once was.

If I were rating them it would be Brady number one, Manning number two, Romo number three.

Least that's how I see it.

To put Garrard over Hassleback and Cutler over Schaub is a complete future and potential preference. Probably the same with Roethlisberger as well.

Cutler is better than Schaub though.......

If anything that one is a toss up. Both young guys with some potential and things to prove. At best or at worst it is a tie. I do lean with Cutler being better.

remember #11 (a former #1 pick like CP, even though he was a bit older he was still thought to have some talent and his big arm) playing with basically the SAME talent-more since Terry Glenn was healthy-leading this team NOWHERE? Now, I like Palmer, and unlike some on here, I think he's a very good QB but to say he's doing it w/ smoke and mirrors is ridiculous. Chad and TJ are one of the best WR tandems in the NFL (not to mention what Rudi J and C. Henry-before he got himself cut-brought to the table) and their o-line is pretty good (when healthy). Cincy always made sure that Carson was taken care of offensively from a talent perspective so your argument is somewhat flawed. But hey, you entered the Zone with a bang!!!

Thank you for the welcome, as I have been a long time visitor but never posted. Now comparing Bledsoe's last year to Palmer who is still young is flawed. Bledsoe was at the end of his career, but even then in his last season still was doing decent so nobody can say with any certainty what would have happened if Bledsoe had not been pulled. But even that same year when romo began to play, he still had that load of talent with a healthy Terry Glenn. Chad and TJ were decent receivers till CP took over, then they became the badasses that they are now. Johnson had made only 1 probowl till Palmer took over, and TJ just made his first last season. They were not estabilished, yearly probowlers like TO and Witten were when romo got off the bench after 4 years in addition to having Barber, and Glenn who had made some probowls in his career prior to when romo began to play. Not to mention an offensive line that is much better then the Bengals, and a defense loaded with probowlers. It is not Palmers fault that he was drafted to a bad team, with a bad defense and a front office that made some bad draft decisions. Their first 3 picks in 05 arent even on the team, David Pollack and Odell Thurman, not to mention Chris Henry. And another 1st round pick in 2004 who has barely played at all in Chris Perry, who I believe was a favorite on this board back then. Palmer also has done as good as he since he began playing in only his 2nd year in the NFL, not sitting on the bench half way through his 4th season like romo had the benefit of doing. We all know how hard it is for a rookie to adjust to the NFL, Palmer was only given 1 to romo having 4, so romo has the advantage there along with the great team around him he came into.

Imangine if Palmer had Ware, Ellis, Canty, Ratliff, Newman, James and others on his defense like romo does. romo had 3 probowlers on his offensive line giving him all day to throw to TO and Witten running wide open and a dominating defense. Palmer's defense plays like a sieve. If Palmer had that kind of defense, the Bengals would be a much better team then what they are, and Palmer would not have to carry his team on his back every game and throw to catch up and face blitzes and defenses teeing off on the pass. Palmer had 20 int's last year for that reason, but romo had 19, but was hardly playing from behind because of the great defense he has backing him up, so what is romos excuse? Oh most will say he has only played 2 years, yet has been in the NFL for 6. And only Marino, Unitas, Warner and Peyton Manning got to 100 td passes faster then Palmer, but I guess to most he still sucks. The only way romo takes the Cowboys to a Superbowl is if he buys them a ticket. I wont settle for anything less then a Superbowl victory. But people will continue to defend romo and make excuses for him because he is a cowboy and they are infatuated with him. It will be fun to see how it all plays out in the end.

Just because romo is a Cowboy doesnt mean I cant be objective. There are alot better qb's in the NFL then romo, and somebody said earlier you cant just base that on stats. Well it appears that that is what most people are fixated on his romo's stats. That is all that seperates romo from the most commonly discussed qbs such as Eli, Roethlisberger, Brees, Rivers, Garrard, Palmer and others. But as most have said, dont focus on the stats, because if you throw out the stats, romo falls behind all of the previousely mentioned qbs. But people will criticize and circle the wagons to defend romo, I am just one of the few that will come out and say it. And anybody that wants to criticize can, but by criticizing my opinon or calling me a hater is small minded. I respect opinions, even the ones that like romo. I should have mine respected that I dont share the same opinions and anybody that attacks me just makes my argument stronger.

Im not even going to read all this, but from what i have read i really don't think you know what your talking about. First of all. you cant just assume that TJ and Chad wouldn't have develop into great player if Carson never was drafted to them and you cant say that they weren't pro bowl players before Carson because they where still young players themselves. Its not like the were in the league for years then CArson came and all of a sudden they were great. No they got drafted 1 years before Carson.

Secondly, your assumption that if Carson were on the Cowboys we would have won the SuperBowl. Well, your wrong because if our O Line and Patrick Crayton played the way they did in the second half of that game then we still would have lost. **** if we had Aikman back there we would have still lost. Basically your saying that Romo had everything to do with the Cowboys Losing and Carson has nothing to do with the Bengals losing.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers
It is becoming clear that Ben Roethlisberger is the next-best quarterback. Physically, he is the prototype for the position. He gets the most out of his natural gifts with his uncanny ability to buy extra time in the pocket and use his powerful right arm to drive the ball downfield when a play breaks down.
So uncanny that he was 2nd in the NFL in sacks in 2007 (despite Pittsburgh having the 2nd lowest pass attempts in the NFL). The guy has 6 sacks in his playoff game. Can you imagine what people would say about Romo if he was sacked 6 times in the playoff game?

Romo put up better numbers than Ben his first season when he only started 10 games. 2900 and 19 tds in 10 games were better than what Ben was doing as a fun time starter for the first 3 years of his career.

only reason pittsburg is ahead of us is becuase there back up is pretty good
