ESPN: No surprises when ranking the top QBs in the NFL (Romo #6)

This list also counts who the back up is for each team and they don't seem to think much of Brad Johnson. Perhaps that is why Dallas is 6th on the list. It isn't just about Romo although I doubt they put much consideration into who is backing up either Brady or Manning. Why would you?

no order for who goes 1 & 2 those spots belong to Brady and Manning, 3 & 4 are also a toss up between Palmer and Romo. Theres no way Romo or Palmer are rated higher then Brady and Manning as of right now

Of course.

The only debate is Palmer vs Romo.

Palmer is my style of Quarterback through and through but I like Romo better and think he can develop into a better player (if he isn't already).

With the way these guys can rush the QB now days people will be looking for the Romo style QB over the Palmer style QB.

Watch the damn games.

Brees would seriously have something to say about that...

Romo has yet to win a playoff game in his two seasons behind center...Also, we would like to see a bigger overall body of work.
Make up your minds.

If Carson Palmer was a Cowboy, the Cowboys win the Super Bowl last year and this year. If romo was on the Bengals, they would win less games then they did last year. How is an undrafted qb from division 2 better then a Heisman Trophy, #1 overall pick to a terrible team? Palmer went to a team that was pretty bad and void of much talent, while romo sat on the bench for 4 years and got to play on a team loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, unlike the Bengals. As much of a Cowboys fan as I am, I can at least be realistic. Just because romo is a Cowboy does not mean he is as good as what most fans want him to be.

Owens was a Hall of Famer long before romo started throwing him the ball. Johnson and TJ developed with Palmer, its not like they were yearly Probowlers or even Hall of Famers when Palmer began to play. Unlike romo who has one of the most talented teams around him making him look good. When romo doesnt have Owens to throw the ball too, romo will show why he was undrafted from Division II, and everyone will realize that romo is not what people think or want him to be.

Why is Palmer getting so much love? The guy has been playing average at the very best. He's not in the top 5, it's all Hype.

I stoped reading after the first sentence... Romo > Palmer at this point and will win more from now on. get a real team bengals fan.

what a laugh. I am not saying Palmer is not good-but he has shown nothig more then Romo has and frankly can be considered to have backslid.

By the way it was NOT a cheap shot. Cannot believe the number of numbies who think so.

Someone help me out; has Carson Palmer won a playoff game? If not, why does he seem to get a pass while Romo gets the business with far fewer starts?

Palmer has two of the better wide-outs in the game, but he has to shoulder the load while Romo is surrounded with talent?

Palmer's bad throws are "forced" due to having to shoulder the load, but Romo can be "hit or miss".

Sounds like some serious spin to me.

That defense of Cincy's has to take some of the blame for their playoff record.

As far as Romo's low grade. "HATERS"

Hello, wake up dude. Somebody get this man a cup of coffee.

RedRaiderCowboysFan,

I sure do wish Drew Bledsoe could have been Romo like with all that same talent around him.

The only difference is Bledsoe had a healthy Terry Glenn playing the best football of his life.

The whole talent around him is the only reason he is good comment just makes me go back to a quote I had earlier in this thread which is, "Watch the Damn Game."

What a way to make your grand entrance in to this forum.

His pension for fading down the stretch certainly is worrisome, and he faces a brutal schedule in 2008.

Thaaat would be a penchant. Some writers have such a wide vocabulary....or something.

It's still beyond me why people rank Ben at #3. He has proved many times he can't do it. Most of the times he looks good is when he has a running game trouncing the other team.

I put his Super Bowl win up there with Trent Dilfer's and Brad Johnson's. QB's that won Super Bowls inspite of themselves.

Don't get me wrong, he is better than Trent Dilfer, but I'm not ready to say he is better than Johnson was in his prime.

Look at Eli Manning. Many of these idiots are proclaiming him a great QB now that he won a Super Bowl. Do they not remember him collapsing all those times before? Eli has the ability, he just doesn't have it mentally. He, like Johnson, Dilfer, and CrapFilledBurger won inspite of his issues.

I will say it again. Carson Palmer is overrated and no better than Jeff George or any of 100 other flops at QB. Stats don't mean squat. Every year the so-called sports experts crown the Bengals as Super Bowl contenders and every year they fall flat of their face. The same for Palmer. He gets all this respect and deserves none of it. I can name 10 or more QBs I would take over Palmer anyday of the week. To list him as being one of the 5 best QBs in the league is a joke. Anderson and Big Ben are head and shoulders better than Palmer.

Top 5 QBs right now:

1. Manning - Colts
2. Brady - Patriots
3. Romo - Dallas
4. Roethlisberger - Steelers
5. Brees - Saints

19. Palmer - Ravens ;)

He's 0-1. He was knocked out by a cheat shot to the knee after throwing one pass against Pittsburgh in 2005-06. He has missed the playoffs in each of the past two seasons (going 8-8 and 7-9).

Exactly... Palmer was on fire going into those play-offs from what I remember. If it weren't for that cheap shot, who knows how much he would have lit up the Steelers...

I dont see how there is anything not to like about Palmers game.

I was one of his biggest critics coming out of College and the guy has shown me a lot.

His arm strength, accuracy, and overall talent have translated well to the NFL.

Hes a heck of a QB imo.

First of all, :welcome: to the Zone!
Secondly, :lmao2: :lmao: :laugh1: :lmao2: :laugh1: :lmao: :lmao2: :laugh1: you've got to be kidding, right? Do you remember #11 (a former #1 pick like CP, even though he was a bit older he was still thought to have some talent and his big arm) playing with basically the SAME talent-more since Terry Glenn was healthy-leading this team NOWHERE? Now, I like Palmer, and unlike some on here, I think he's a very good QB but to say he's doing it w/ smoke and mirrors is ridiculous. Chad and TJ are one of the best WR tandems in the NFL (not to mention what Rudi J and C. Henry-before he got himself cut-brought to the table) and their o-line is pretty good (when healthy). Cincy always made sure that Carson was taken care of offensively from a talent perspective so your argument is somewhat flawed. But hey, you entered the Zone with a bang!!!
