Wow. Wonder if he starts this week. Also say if Palmer deal doesn't get done they're in talks with Eagles to acquire Vince Young.

Al is smiling somewhere.

No way. Palmer is not a young guy. TWO first round picks?? Maybe two second round picks...

Supposedly the 2013 one is conditional (and you'd think probably wouldn't be reached), but still. Amazing.

I always liked Palmer more than most, but that's a ton. Makes me wonder if Jackson isn't that in love with Jason Campbell, because no way do you give up this much for just a stop gap.

If they gave up TWO 1st round picks for a 32 year old with a career 86 QB rating, they are the dumbest franchise ever. Even 1 first rounder would be horrible.

I don't think it's even a rumor anymore. Mort has it on his twitter and they're discussing it on ESPN.

If they were that desperate, I hope we at least called them about Kitna.

They also floated it was a 1st next year as Aaron Curry, but they're sticking with 1st next year and a conditional first in 2013 which I believe is depending on if they make the playoffs.

Still not official you know how ESPN is...

The Raiders aren't that stupid. I'd give a third rounder with an upgrade to a second if the Raiders get to the playoffs. But two No.1s, that's highway robbery.

Everyone in the Raiders front office is crazy and Al was the sane one. He just played the fool because he loved the organization so much. The truth is out now that Al was not the one making the insane personnel decisions.

I like Palmer a lot, but a second/third and conditional third is all he is worth at his age, although Oakland has a history of fostering successful older QB's...

Come to think of it, that's ALL they've ever done successfully since the 60's...

Lamonica, Stabler, Plunkett, Gannon... all older, all successful... Al is still runnin' this thing from the grave...

Well, Adam Schefter is pretty much on the mark, and both he and Mortensen are reporting it.

Schefter says it's official. Can't believe the post Davis Raiders would be so dumb.

For Carson Palmer??? They're making a huge mistake. 2nd rounder and maybe a conditional future 4th - even that's pushing it.

They're very much hurting at qb right now and with their division can make the playoffs.

A first and a conditional first that palmer is extremely unlikely to get anyhow isn't a bad deal. They would have been coming to the table very weak they're approaching them (makes getting the trade more expensive) the deadline is quickly approaching (even more expensive) and it's very obvious to every other team they NEED a QB urgently (even more expensive) so with all that in mind they know they're going to be bent over for a QB they have 2 choices be taken for a bit of a ride or write off the first promising season they have had in a while.

I'm guessing Al Davis made it known before his death that he wanted Carson Palmer and was willing to pay a hefty price to acquire him. That's the only way they'd make a bold move like this...
