ESPN: Palmer to Raiders for 2 1st Round Picks

The ghost of Al Davis must have made this trade. Imagine if some team trades the #1 pick for Luck. Gonna cost 4 #1s

If thats what they're offering for Palmer, we should have offered Romo for the same. and traded it all up for Luck next year.

So it's official as a first in 2012 and a second in 2013 that could become a first in 2013? So at the very least they gave up a 1st and 2nd for a QB who is 31, hasn't played all year, and has been average to above average his whole career?

Man...i gotta say...i just don't get that move.

Deep Freeze I understand what you're saying. I get where you're coming from there. Great point for sure. I'm just saying what I would possibly do if an chance like that presented itself.

Lucky for me, and Cowboys fans as a whole I suppose, that I don't get to make decisions like that. :)

Yeah, we have just made so many bad decisions at QB lately, other than some undrafted FA in Romo.

If I had DMac, a good OL, fast WRs who might catch the ball occasionally, and a decent D, I might make that move. Who would have picked up Rich Gannon....just saying.

Give them a chance, and on the same token, give Romo a chance too.

If they gave up TWO 1st round picks for a 32 year old with a career 86 QB rating, they are the dumbest franchise ever. Even 1 first rounder would be horrible.

I think two 1st round picks is too much also but the Raiders do have a history of bringing in players that nobody else wants and turning them into good fits. Nobody wanted Plunkett either.

However, 2 1st is too much, I agree.

With Jason Campbell on the shelf for several weeks with a collarbone injury, the 4-2 Oakland Raiders pried a disgruntled Carson Palmer out of Cincinnati Tuesday, giving the Bengals a 2012 first-round draft pick and a conditional 2013 pick for the 31-year-old Palmer.

What?!?!?! I thought Al Davis passed away? Guess his over-spending spirit lives on...

As stupid as Cincy's owner was for holding Palmer this long w/a grudge against him... Raidas making him look like a mastermind.

Wish there was a player we had that the Raidas like just as much as Palmer? Bennet? Newman maybe? Heck... Raidas are like an inept Fantasy football team... we should throw as many trade offers to them as possible and hope one gets through haha!!:laugh2:

What are they thinking?

2nd rounder at most!

Is Jerry the interim GM over there?

they are 4-2 and lost thier starting QB. looks to me like they want to win this year not 3 years from now

Oh don't get me wrong. Those comments aren't about not liking Romo and not believing in him. I do like him and I do believe in him I'm just saying is all.

They're not going to win it this year.

They won't even get close.

So what I see is they're giving up potentially 2 straight years of 1st round picks, and this year they'll have no picks in the first 4 rounds now, for a QB who is 31+ years old, average most of the time, good when he's at his best, and they're going to set themselves back 2-3 years with this raping of their draft picks they're doing this year.

All for some shot that they honestly don't really have this year. They're not going to beat New England or the Ravens or The Steelers when it matters most, in January, so they're betting it all on this and I don't think it's a smart move, at all.

Lets not forget that Palmer has seemed to be declining for a couple of years, at least, now and has never been the same since his knee got hurt against Pittsburgh a handful of years ago.

So you add that to his already 31+ year old age, the fact that he's not been playing since last December, and you're going to give up 2 first rounders for that?

Sorry but no thanks.

the packers made the playoffs the last day of the season bro.lol now they are unstoppable. every team has a chance except cincy lol. id rather be 4-2 than 2-3.

The Packers have Aaron Rodgers.

The Raiders will have Carson Palmer.

If you don't know the difference then you've obviously never watched them play.

I think Garrett can figure it out in 2.5 years, so you're wrong.

Not if it works out. They have a great record right now and can still win that division with this trade. Palmer was a beast prior to that knee injury, and it's questionable whether the team declined or he did after that. They'll find out soon.

Raiders fans must be gathering the wooden stakes, garlic and holy water and heading over the Al Davis' grave as we speak :lmao:

We probably could have squeezed 3 firsts and 3 seconds for Tony Romo.....:p:
