Agreed, which means if the NFC Title Game is somehow Dallas vs. Philly than Dallas should have the advantage. Recent history proves they match up well to them. San Francisco, not so much.If you are going to say Dallas is 8-3 vs philly over the last 11 games that means you are going back 6 seasons essentially.
in those 6 seasons the Eagles are 1-1 in superbowls over the same span Dallas is 8-3 against them.
As I mentioned in the OP, NONE of these rankings mean jack squat until some games are played. And the NFL is a year to year thing. What a team is year to year can vary quite a bit. The Cowboys did something last year we had not done in 30 years- win back to back 12 win seasons. Not saying they are not good. They just get way too much love compared to other decent teams out there.
If one did not follow every thing all that close.
Then would read each year going into the season. They would think the Eagles won like 10 SB’s and are always unstoppable.
Wonder if it's an east coast thing.Still not buying Philly at 2.
The media love does not die with this team.
well if they played in the playoffs you would really look at Dak vs hurts and he has the upper hand but if you look at post season success then hurts and philly would have the upper hand.Agreed, which means if the NFC Title Game is somehow Dallas vs. Philly than Dallas should have the advantage. Recent history proves they match up well to them. San Francisco, not so much
Cowboys also don't get the Vegas love. O/U wins is 9.5Cowboys do not get the media love, just the opposite. Sometimes deserved Though.
There have been quite a few year Eagles got media love, then failed, only to get more love the next off season.
truthMy response was in regard to media love.
The eagles literally went 14-3, won two home playoff games in blowouts and lost the super bowl by a field goal.
that's not media love. Media love is what the cowboys and chargers get every year or in this years terms what the Jets are getting.
And that’s a huge problem cause if we can’t win division we are looking at needing to win 3 playoff games to reach SB.Behind? Filly I assume?
extreme fortune health wise. cupcake schedule. overnight ascension of a gimmicky qb w/ little tape. lost both coordinators. played chief obstacle without qb1they were 14-3 and lost the super bowl by a fg?
what am I missing?
Vegas normally is all about setting a line to receive balanced wagering on both sides .Cowboys also don't get the Vegas love. O/U wins is 9.5
But what if Egirls go 15-2 and we have to travel on the road 3 games in the playoffs .Cowboys go 14-3 in the regular and make a run to the SB…….it’s just that simple
Sorry No.extreme fortune health wise. cupcake schedule. overnight ascension of a gimmicky qb w/ little tape. lost both coordinators. played chief obstacle without qb1
If that happens I’ll just pout. But what if Egirls go 15-2 and we have to travel on the road 3 games in the playoffs .
And why it’s NFCE or Bust IMO. If we can’t win division , it’s not likely going to end well.
Would love that - don't see it though. I think the NFCE winner is at 12 wins this season. But what if Egirls go 15-2 and we have to travel on the road 3 games in the playoffs .
And why it’s NFCE or Bust IMO. If we can’t win division , it’s not likely going to end well.
How would Dallas opponents effect the Eagles schedule?Sorry No.
Might want to check who played qb vs your team last year and the fortunate times your opponent had big injuries.
If you really believe that then you should mortgage the house and bet the over at 9.5Cowboys go 14-3 in the regular and make a run to the SB…….it’s just that simple
The Chargers were dumb enough to hire Kellen “The Hammer” Moore who I think is a total bafoon as a QB coach and off coordinator. He must have compromising photos of all the owners.I don’t put a ton of stock in “power rankings” before a seasons starts because it’s all paper at this point. But I know many Cowboys fans do so I thought I would share this as we approach the season. I can’t link it because it’s ESPN+ but I can at least mention what they said.
ESPN’s Top Ten Preseason Power Rankings:
Like I said at the start, I don’t put a lot of stock in these rankings before we’ve seen a single team play a down of meaningful football yet.The NFL of late is a year to year thing. A great team one year doesn’t mean it is the next. Starting next weekend we will begin the process of separating the contenders from the pretenders.
- Kansas City- with the best player in the NFL (Mahomes) and an all time great offensive coach in Andy Reid, the chiefs should be #1. The Chris Jones holdout is a problem but I’ll be shocked if isn’t worked out soon.
- Filly eaglets- they remain loaded at several positions but no NFC East winner has repeated in nearly 20 years. I’m skeptical.
- Buffalo- Josh Allen is good but he throws too many picks.
- Cincinnati- if Joe Burrow is healthy they will be very tough.
- Miami- great defense on paper, but Tua although good last year is is still a health question mark.
- Cowboys- ESPN says adding Gilmore and Cooks makes us better. They also say we are much closer to Filly than last year. I agree. The OL starters are good but no depth.
- San Fran- their OL has questions but ESPN says Shanahan can get the most out of an offense. Surprised ESPN has them this low.
- LA Chargers- they have the talented QB Herbert but so far has not materialized in a playoff win. ESPN apparently thinks they might do that this year.
- Cleveland- This ranking surprises me. ESPN thinks a lot more of this roster than I do. DeShaun Watson has talent but not sure he’s good enough to make this team a top ten team.
- NY Jets- I would have ranked them higher than Cle and higher than 10. Rodgers I’d diminished but he’s still good. And the jets have a pretty good D. If Rodgers upgrades their offense they could be really good.
Thoughts?
How our team, that has not advanced in almost thirty years to the Conf championship game, gets any respect from the media is mind boggling.truth
