Face facts...until Newman learns to play the freakin' ball and make some INT's, he's unlikely to make the probowl, and he's certainly unlikely to be a perennial probowler.

We all love Newman because he's our best CB, but even those on this board constantly lament the fact that our DB's have never been good at finding and playing the ball.

Newman might be as good as anyone in the NFC when it comes to blanketing a guy, but if he wants to be a probowler he better start making some int's.

And he won't ever smell All-Pro with guys like Champ Bailey out there unless he learns to watch the QB and attack the passes...heck, the truly great ones, like Bailey, Deon, etc, read patterns and actually lay back and bait the QB into an INT by making him think it's safe to throw the ball.

Newman is great, but he's still got lots to learn if he wants to be a PLAYMAKER. Do you disagree with that take?

I agree with everything here... But I wouldn't want newman to change so he can get to the Pro Bowl... i could care less if he makes a pro bowl. All i care about is that he doesn't let the guys he's covering beat us.

Would I like to see some more INTs and game changing plays? Sure, who wouldn't? But if it's to the detriment of his shut down abilities, no thanks. I'll settle for an unspectacular CB who has allowed 1 TD over 2 seasons.

It all depends on what your goals are...

I do agree to a certain extent. The only issue I have is that he should be a Probowler. I agree with your assessment of why he's not garnering the attention and votes to actually go ... I just don't think it's correct. In short I see it as lazy voting ... not really paying attention to who is playing that position well.

My question to you is do you think DeAngello Hall should be in the Probowl just because he makes some of those interceptions that you speak of at the expense of being ultra solid like Newman?

Your answer to that will let me know how far apart we are on the issue.
