No one expects Shakespeare. They just expect to be able to comprehend a single "sentence" without having to read over it six times in their head. I mean, screw the extra letters. I just want a little punctuation.

As for the topic, I really can't imagine Julius having a good day against that Bears D. Julius may have a little more speed than MB3, but it probably won't be a huge factor against a defense that is extremely fast itself. As always, I expect MB3 to post the better numbers in the game. He will do what he always does. Break tackles and make people miss.

Julius Jones may surprise a lot of people and end up with 100 to 150 yards rushing against this so called vaunted Chicago defense...

Hey, if you're too freakin' LAZY to type out "Hey guys, do you think I can borrow a dollar for a soda because I'm really thirsty??", that's YOUR problem... but I wouldn't count on getting a dollar out of me if you can't do any better than THAT...

I mean, really, it must have taken me ten more seconds to type it out in ENGLISH than it took you to type it out in "text English"...

Stop sticking up for stupidity and/or good old fashioned laziness... the English language is dying here in America, and guys like you and RIB are killing it off... think of it this way, this forum is a good chance for you to practice the correct usage of the English language, and you never know when possessing that basic skill will help you get a better job, make a better living, have a better quality of life...

Guys who can't express themselves better than RIB has here these last coupla days couldn't write a decent resume if their lives depended on it...

One mans laziness is another mans efficiency. Sorry but using abbreviations is not reflective of intelligence. Youre just not used to it but i guarantee you that there are some very intelligent people that use similar shorthand.

I actually take the time to write my resume, here i dont take the time becaus eit dont matter to me. On a message board im just here to spill out my thoughts. Not to get an A in english.

Agreed. my sister was one of the smartest people in my school 4 or 5 years ago, and she uses abbreviations when she e-mails me.

Then those highly intelligent people are really, really lazy...

Yes, I certainly do judge the intelligence of any poster by their level of articulation (at least in part)... I suspect most of us in here do...

Stop bashing posters

Stop telling me how to post... I say that not in anger, but because in my world, you wouldn't BELIEVE how insignificant you are, so there's absolutely no chance I'll heed any advice from you...

Right from the first time I discovered these message boards, I have been highly depressed by the dumbing down of America, and I refuse to contribute to it... if you do make that choice, and you're capable of doing better, shame on you...

I rather doubt that you've ever gotten CLOSE to an A in English...

The question is, if you ARE intelligent, if you ARE capable of using the English language properly, why wouldn't you want that to come across in your posts to these boards?? I must have 50,000 posts to assorted newsgroups and message boards over these last 8 years or so, and have never found it a great strain to employ correct grammar, and proofread my posts... and when I find out after posting that I let a mistake slip through, I try to go in and edit it...

If you choose to do that, it can only be because you're too lazy to make the effort, or because you lack the education and/or intelligence to make a coherent post...

BTW, when I say "you", I mean the generic you, not you personally... you're nowhere NEAR as bad as RIB is, and your posts don't bother me on that level...

Basically, don't ask me to condone the "text message" form of lazy man's communications... I'll never have anything but scorn for that, and those who indulge in it...

Maybe you feel like everyone should put in the best effort on a message board, and thats fine, but i am not and don't feel the need. sorry
To be honest look at all these posts, and i bet you can find at least 1 or 2 grammar mistakes in each. Does that mean they are dumb, or just are lazy to edit?

Then she must be ashamed of her intelligence, or she figures she needs to talk down to you...

I was only 6th in a graduating class of 650, not even the smartest kid at my school, and I have too much pride in myself to let my posts come off as borderline illiterate... the written word is supposed to be about COMMUNICATION, and those who use it best generally communicate better than those who don't...

At least, I'm not often asked on these boards what a post of mine just meant... people seem to be able to figure that out without any help from me (aside from some of them asking about a word I might have used that they haven't heard before, LOL)...

And you might note, I take SOME liberties with the English language here online, like my dreadful overuse of the ellipsis, my droppin' the "g's" from some words to sound like a good ol' boy, my using "kinda" and "gonna", in pursuit of the same goal... but that's a stylistic CHOICE that I've made, in an attempt to develop my own idiosyncratic style on these boards...

"Y r u dogging me" might be understandable, but it's STUPID... and those who regularly write stupid things inevitably wind up being judged stupid by those who read those words... if you don't care about looking stupid, then go right ahead and "text" away...

Just don't come whining to me when those who take some pride in their ability to express themselves with at least a minimum of clarity laugh at you, as they will...

When you address a post to me, you invite yourself into my world... if you've got a problem with that, I suggest you refrain from attempting to engage me in conversation...

Predictably, you missed the point of my response-- you are nowhere near important enough for me to seek, let alone listen to, your advice... you mean less than nothing to me, except as a diversion very early in the morning here at work...

I DO mind when I'm at a job interview, or talking to my boss. On a message board? i dont really care if i use bad grammar, because im not here to judge or be judged on it, im here to talk football. And if most people can understand me then great.

Of course I do... but when have I ever denied doing so??

The thing is, I stay within the rules of this board when doing so...

Another thing is, when warranted, I will continue bashing posters... you might not have noticed, but I'm not the only one mocking RIB's subliterate contributions to our dialogue... indeed, the FIRST person to ridicule that in this thread was one of the board's Admins... you'd think he'd know the rules, and stay within them, wouldn't you??

Hey, that's fine-- if you don't care about how you're perceived, it's no skin off my nose... and like I said, your posts might be a little loose with the grammar, but you're a LOOOONG way from the worst offender...

Bluntly, when I read a post that starts out with all those little text shortcuts, I generally assume the poster has nothing to say that I could possibly find interesting, and I move on to posts that do...

I'd think your time could be more profitably spent than trying to defend a poster who it would seem can barely speak the English language...

If you dont like people using abbreviations all the time, and "texting" then i guess that means you really dont like teens, and people in their early 20's. Text messaging is one of the most popular things these days. Sure not all do it, but id say a vast majority do.
