Those jaguars sure were dumb to take a chance so many years ago on a injury prone WR that literally almost died.

Signing that Jimmy Smith sure was a bad risk on their part.

I don't recall any of that. Did he have a microfracture need on his knee? I mean really, that is some messed up stuff, and you should know that being that you played ball.

Look at Glenn this year! What, he kept a roster spot and played, what, two games?

I doubt it's the same between the two players...

Jimmy Smith was also only 24-25yrs. old when he got to Jax. Big difference in age and the body's ability to recoup.

Hey, I am all for it (now that it doesn't require us to give up a draft pick).

I just want us to draft a WR too, to groom.

If Dallas does sign Walker I hope he does better than the 22 receptions and 288 yards that Jimmy Smith gave the Jaguars in his first year in Jacksonville. :)

Right. Jimmy Smith suffered a broken leg and a butchered appendectomy. He was 26 years old when Jax signed him. I would think those injuries/ailments were easier to recover from than a possible microfracture knee surgery for a soon to be 30 year old receiver.
Walke can't get on the field consistently.

Walker and Glenn are gonna have a race, whoever gets out of the Doctors office first after having their knee scoped, gets to play the slot.

LOL good line. I was down on the idea of trading for him but now that he's been cut if he can pass a physical why not bring him in he's a talented player.

Big time apples and oranges. Smith signed a low level contract with a team that had not started playing football yet. I believe he was only a second or third year player at the time and he was projected as a back-up. Zero risk for the Jags. Smith did not even start for the Jags until midway through their first season and was renegotiated in 97 because he was grossly underpaid for his production.

Most people here are worried about what Walker's contract demands are vs. his health. If he is reasonable given the concerns, then fine. If he still wants the moon and a prime time roll, then pass.

Didn't Jimmy also have a brief stint in Philly in between Dallas and Jacksonville?

Let's get real here. We need a WR in FA who could at least play for us for 1 year and after that whoever we draft should be ready.
Yeah, but with Walker that's far from a certainty.

Consider the bust rate of first round receivers. Compare it to the chances that Walker doesn't get injured. I'm sure they are equal at least.

Might I mention that the rookie probably won't turn into a superstar immediately, yet Walker has shown that he can be one? Oh, and Walker is under 30.

But if he doesn't come cheap, I say no.

If he comes in his knee looks decent and hes willing to sign a modest contract then of course bring him in.

If he wants cash or his knee is a cuisinart then don't. Its not that complicated.

If we were to get him for a cheap price, bring him in and let him compete, and see what he can do. If we get him for a cheap price, I'm ok with it, and hopefully, we'll draft a WR as well.

Yeah, 4 or 5 years ... that really makes a big difference on your body.

26 years old... you can heal.

29 years old... OMGZ YOU'LL NEVER BE THE SAME!

Agreed. Jimmy Smith was had absolutely NO skins on the wall, but was still given a chance (despite some major health issues).

In our case, we already know Walker is at an all-pro level when healthy.

The injury risk the the SAME per player, the difference is we KNOW what we'd be getting as far as ability.

I think the angle has been played up here and in other places, but Ray Sherman is going to have a big hand in this, in my opinion.

If Walker is willing to come here and play with TO, and not necessarily go for the biggest dollars he can find, he's got a great shot at being a Cowboy. I think Ray Sherman is very fond of him, and Tony could use another weapon.

I just don't know if we should chance this guy--my gut say NO

Well CC, as others have pointed out, if he comes cheap and can clear a physical why not let him at least come to camp...that is the least I would expect...but microfracture is just as crazy as you!
