espn reporting javon walker has been released

Broncos released WR Javon Walker, according to ESPN's Michael Smith.

He's a big name, but Walker's contract and knee injury made it an easy choice by Denver. That no one choose to give up a late-round pick for Walker is telling. It's rumored that he could need microfracture surgery in the future, although he will have plenty of suitors lined up with MRI machines. Dallas, Washington, Philadelphia, and Tampa Bay have been rumored to be interested.

Either cut off Walkers bad leg and attach it to Gleens, or cut off Glenns bad leg and attach it Walker and we are good to go! There, problem solved...

Man! Come on here! Why try and rely on guys like this? One bad move and it's over, then what?

Use the draft and get some health and youth...

I agree, but it usually takes rookie WRs a couple of years to make the adjustment. I think we take 1 vet and 1 rookie.

Why not both?

If he comes in for the career resurrecting discount rate, then maybe worth a look, but I fear his contract demands will outweigh his production potential when factoring in the possibility of injury.

How about both?

Owens, Walker, Crayton, Draft pick, Stanback

Stop mentioning Crayton! I'm still mad at that bastid!!

;) ;) ;)

Walker passed the exit physical that the Broncos put all there players through after the season. Obviously I dont know what the issue is with his knee but if he passes our Dr's examination I say we jump at it.

Bronco Doctor: "Well, let's test that knee, OK"? (thump, thump with little rubber hammer) "OK, you are good to go...see ya, would not want to be ya...have a nice life"!!

Some of you aren't thinking straight. I'm definitely on board with all of you in using 1 of our 2 first rounders on BPA at WR cause I believe our picks are around where the top WRs go off the board. But the reality is that most WRs don't produce much their first season. So if we leave it up to some of you, we just go with TO (pray to God he doesn't get hurt) and rely on those quick WRs of ours like Crayton, Hurd, Austin & Stanbach. Let's get real here. We need a WR in FA who could at least play for us for 1 year and after that whoever we draft should be ready. We can't afford Berriaum or any of those other guys. We might not able to afford Walker unless he really wants to re-unite with his old Packer WR coach Ray Sherman, play with his friend TO & also be on a team whose a legit SB contender with a really good young QB in Romo. Obviously our doctors will check him out closely to see if his knees are okay to go. If he is healthy and willing play at salary we can afford, then you better believe we should sign him. If he's smart, he'll also know that the Cowboys as the NFL's premier team, will be on national television in prime time more then any other team. Shoot, last year they had us on 7 times (not counting Fox's showing us numerous times as their 2nd team in the doubheader). That's the kind of exposure Walker should love cause it could lead to a really big contract in 09. Against just as long as we also draft a high round quality WR. Now let's wait and see what happens in next few days. Sure would be interested to know if Walker has talked to TO & Ray Sherman.

If Walker was worried that his knee is done then he and his agent would be wanting an injury settlement. If you check those interviews he was feeling good about his knee and his future.

I would much rather make an attempt to find the next Colston or Dwayne Bowe than waste time with a soon to be 30 year old receiver with a gimpy knee, going on his 3rd team in 4 years, who won't be happy until he gets a new contract.

Doesn't sound like Walker can stay happy anywhere. He didn't like Green Bay and was upset at his catches in Denver. I don't know how happy he'd be playing second fiddle to Owens here in Dallas.

That being said, if we sign him to a relatively cheap contract I'm all for bringing him in for a look.

I say we take a chance with him when he's healthy he's in the top 10 and adding that kind of fire power to Romo arsenal makes our Offense very very very scary.

Third fiddle. Don't forget Witten.

Good....we'll take a chance on him in five years when he's healthy - two years of trying to play on a bad wicket, one year for surgery, one year of rehab, one year of getting back up to speed....

I'm not very interested in getting him because of his age combined with his knee issues. But, for the right price. Just wondering what direction adding a vet takes Dallas in the draft.

Getting him or any vet may keep Dallas from drafting a WR in round one. It would make no sense to draft a player and pay him 1st round money to be at most Dallas' 4th WR. T.O. (soon to have new contract in hand), Walker or any vet (new contract in hand) and Crayton (new contract in hand) will be undoubtedly the 1st three WR's. I have my doubts about a move like this. Either get a vet who is young (R. Williams or Fitz) OR draft a could be stud in round 1 or 2 of this years draft. Not both.

Wait! I may be all wrong about Walker!!! It appears that since '04 he is healthy and very productive every other year. So following his trend, he should be lights out in '08!!!! Sign him up now!!!

Edit: History has shown that Jerry has no issue paying someone 1st round money and having them be a 4th stringer. See Bobby Carpenter.

Issue in Green Bay was money

Got his money in Denver, then had to play with a young quarterback after Plummer was benched/retired.

At this point, none of that should matter to him now. At 30 with bad knees, he'll probably want one last really good contract before shutting it down.

As for him and T.O., they're friends, so who knows how that would work.

Those jaguars sure were dumb to take a chance so many years ago on a injury prone WR that literally almost died.

Signing that Jimmy Smith sure was a bad risk on their part.
