:lmao:
In 3 years he has 20, 57 and 80 carries. Unless LT gets hurt, Turner will be lucky to get 100-110 carries at most. I guess he could average 13 yards per carry but I wouldn't bet on it.

STATS tracks broken tackles. Last year, Michael Turner broke an amazing 22 tackles in only 80 carries, which comes out to a broken tackle on an incredible 26.3% of his carries. Among players with any appreciable number of carries, this was by far the best in the NFL. Next best was Maurice Jones-Drew, who broke 31 tackles in 166 carries (15.1%). To put these numbers in context, LT broke 16 tackles in 348 carries (3.7%), Larry Johnson broke 26 tackles in 416 carries (6%), and Ronnie Brown broke 13 tackles in 241 carries (5%). Turner wasn't just a one-year wonder with the broken tackles -- in 2005 he broke 12 tackles in 57 attempts (18.2%).Of his 502 rushing yards in 2006, Turner gained 286 of them after contact, an average of 3.6 yards per carry after contact. In 2005, 201 of Turner's 335yards were after contact, an average of 3.5 yards per carry after contact.

:)
To some posters that means that he isn't any good.

what are you talking about? the chargers are about to trade him to the titans or the bills. the guys on nfl live talked about turner and schlereth said he will become a top 3 rb in the nfl. now that doesnt mean it WILL happen but hes a pretty good RB with unlimited upside

Right now he is a Charger and he won't put up anywhere near those numbers unless LT gets hurt. Call me if and when a trade happens. I don't believe much when it comes to ESPN. Not saying a trade won't happen. There are many more sources I trust more.

Not in San Diego.....unless you get a schedule change and get to play the colts every week.

Could you give me some idea how Marion Barber stacks up when it comes to that stat??

I ask not in the context of this thread, but because when I read that, I wondered if MBIII didn't rank pretty high in that stat, too...

just out of curiosity, lets see MBIII and JuJo's numbers since they came in the league

and no matter how you "Turner is God" folks want to spin it, Turner is a backup RB playing on a good team that has had outstanding run blocking for several seasons...if you people honestly believe we've had as good OL play in the past 3 seasons as San Diego has, pls come see me...I have plenty of ocean front property in Arizona to talk with you about- and its PRICED TO SELL

Tomlinson thinks Turner a star in waiting
Apr 26, 2007 | 10:01AM | report this

You can count LaDainian Tomlinson as another person who believes that his understudy Michael Turner is ready for primetime.

In talking to the league MVP yesterday, LT said he thinks there is a very realistic chance that Turner is dealt. He knows that the ball club can get a lot of value for his backup. Tomlinson says selfishly he hopes Turner stays, as he was instrumental in keeping him fresh during his sensational 2006 campaign.

Tomlinson reports that Turner’s speed, power, hands, and work ethic will make him a great player as an every down back.

Tomlinson says he is convinced that the team is moving in the right direction. He thought it was paramount to re-sign guard Kris Dielman, who the star back called, ‘an integral player and leader for the Chargers.’ He also likes the offensive system of new Norv Turner. Plus, he raved about how Philip Rivers handled last season and can’t wait to see him develop even more.

I wonder who the Chargers will select with that extra second or third rounder.

Oh, the excitement.

Turner is very very good, those who say he isnt must have not watched him play. Im sure he wants to be traded, I know I would if I were him.

the only trade they should even think about for a new RB is the guy for OU

anything else is a total waste of time...especially trading for some other teams backup who isnt even as good as our two current guys

A fragile RB from OU.

yea about Jones being better than turner... though yea i agree that it would be a waste of time trading for him especially since we already have Barber who is basically Turner although he probably does have the speed advantage. i rather us draft a fast RB in the 3rd or 4th rd

Ehhh , what's Tomlinson know ? He's only a professional running back in the NFL . He couldn't possibly know more than our resident forum members .

Turner will be a star in the NFL , just not for the Dallas Cowboys . We already have two good backs and I see no need to trade for another .

The reason why I said that Michael "The Burner" Turner will gain between 1,400 to 1,500 yards next year (playing for a different team) is that he will be good for a long run each and every game. The fact that he breaks tackles will put him in the secondary and no single DB will bring him down. That will keep him close to 100 yards a game. 1,400 to 1,500 yards is not out of the question. Michael Turner will get his and I don't care which team he ends up playing for. Yes, he is that good!
