ESPN said that the Cowboys are 1 of 3 teams (Lions & Bears are the other 2) interested in the Bucs QB. They said that the Cowboys wouldn't trade for him, but when he is relesed, that the Cowboys would give him serious consideration. I think that he should be our #2, with Brad Johnson as our #3, IF we made the free-agent signing AND Simms is 100% from his splein injury.

No, if Simms comes here Johnson is gone. Make no mistake about this. Simms would be replacing Johnson on the roster with the #3 QB spot going to Bartel. If Bartel doesn't show anything we would go with 2 QBs rather than carry Johnson and Simms.

I would like to see an open competition between Simms and Johnson, whoever wins, stays.

Not a good idea to treat FA signings that way. If we have doubts enough about Brad to sign Simms, then the right thing to do is let Brad go so that he can find another job.

He's much younger but I don't know if I'd want him as the #2. He hasn't played in two seasons, pretty much, and who knows how rusty he'd be. At least with Johnson, while it's not a great deal, we'd have a tiny bit of hope.

Good, bring on Simms. Lets get ready for training camp and the season.

My personal sentiments, from austin, "no thanks".

Chris Simms is a dufas and an accident waiting to happen. He's missing the most important QB element.

I'll give you a hint as to what "it" is.... he lacks "it" upstairs.

Hook 'em!

Breasts? I didn't know that was such an important trait in a QB... I learn something new everyday.:

I like Simms. It is not that I think he is some great QB or anything but I do think he is decent. The best thing about him and what I like about a backup is that he is a competitor.

Backups are either smart OR physically gifted.

They aren't going to be both, otherwise they'd be starters.

Johnson is unfortunately a real extreme case -- he's smart but his physical talents are so limited now that teams might literally have to only defend a 15-20 yards downfield. A guy like that just isn't going to steal a game if you need him to.

I was all for Johnson last year when I thought that Romo could use another experienced guy to bounce stuff off -- but now, we really have a greater need for a player who can actually throw the ball.
